Johan Johannson (1911–2004)
Johan Johannson (9 June 1911 – 11 July 2004) was a Norwegian businessperson. He was a son of wholesaler Ole Hartvig Nissen Johannson. He was thus a paternal grandson of Johan Johannson and maternal great-grandson of Hartvig Nissen, and nephew of Johan Johannson. He took over the family company, wholesaler Joh. Johannson, from his father. He was the thus third generation to run the company and was hired in the company in 1935 and he became co-owner in 1941. He was also a co-founder of ''Kolonialgrossistenes Kundeservice'' in 1946 and chaired ''Norske Colonialgrossisters Forbund'' from 1951 to 1957. Johan Johannson was a supervisory council member of Livsforsikringsselskapet Idun, Storebrand, deputy supervisory council member of the Norwegian America Line, and a board member of the libertarian organization Libertas. Hartvig Nissen
Ole Hartvig Nissen (17 April 1815 – 4 February 1874) was a Norwegian philologist and educator. He founded Nissen's Girls' School in Christiania in 1849. In 1865 he became director-general in the Ministry of Education, while remaining one of three joint headmasters of Nissen's Girls' School until 1872. In 1873 he was appointed to the prestigious position as rector of Oslo Cathedral School. Personal life Hartvig Nissen was born in Melhus as a son of Lutheran priest, Peder Schjelderup Nissen (1775–1826) and Bolette Margrethe Musæus (1774–1859). He was a grandson of Martinus Nissen and first cousin of Rasmus Tønder Nissen. He was the 8th child in his family of 10 children. His great-grandfather Niels Hansen Nissen was born in Fredericia in Denmark and moved to Trondheim in Norway, where he became a merchant. is the largest Norwegian biographical encyclopedia. The first edition (NBL1) was issued between 1921 and 1983, including 19 volumes and 5,100 articles. Norwegian America Line
The Norwegian America Line ( no, Den Norske Amerikalinje), was a shipping line, originally an operator of ocean liners and cargo ships. Founded in 1910, the company ran a regular transatlantic service between Norway and the United States, and later included a route to East Africa as well. Primarily due to competition from air travel, transatlantic passenger voyages were slowly discontinued during the years. After the Great War, the company was one of Norway’s largest shipping lines, owning a fleet that included 19 vessels, several of which were for commercial cargo transport. After the Second World War heavy ships losses were overcome by the building of new vessels, however the reduction in the passengers’ traffic by sea shifted the company’s focus mainly to the cargo business, including container and bulk shipping from the 1970s. Libertas (Norway)
Libertas was a Norwegian libertarian business organisation. It was founded in Oslo in 1947. The organisation's first secretary-general was jurist Trygve de Lange. It fought against the regulation politics of the Labour Party, and had considerable influence on conservatives in the 1950s and 1960s. It held lectures at Elingård in Fredrikstad from 1948, and published the magazine '' Nå'' from 1952 to 1995. Libertas was succeeded by the Liberal Research Institute in 1988.
