Morningrise
''Morningrise'' is the second studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. It was released on 24 June 1996 in Europe by Candlelight Records and on 24 June 1997 in the United States by Century Black. The recording sessions took place at Unisound studio, in Finspång, during March and April 1996, and once more the band used producer Dan Swanö. ''Morningrise'' was the last Opeth album produced by Swanö. It was also the last Opeth release with drummer Anders Nordin and bassist Johan De Farfalla. ''Morningrise'' showcases Opeth's signature style, exploring the dynamics between the combination of black metal and death metal vocals, and guitar parts with lighter progressive and acoustic elements. Recording and production After touring, Opeth returned home to rehearse frequently, and booked Unisound Studio again to record the album.

It was reissued in 2000 with one bonus track called "Into the Frost of Winter", an early unproduced rehearsal recording by the band. The recording sessions occurred at the old Unisound studio, in Finspång with production by Opeth alongside Dan Swanö. The band did not record a demo to get signed to a record label. Lee Barrett, the founder of Candlelight Records, enjoyed an Opeth rehearsal tape, and decided to sign the band. The album received critical acclaim. Background Opeth was formed in 1990 in Stockholm, Sweden, by David Isberg. Isberg invited Mikael Åkerfeldt (of the recently disbanded band Eruption) to join Opeth. The other members of the band took exception to this, and quit Opeth, leaving only Isberg and Åkerfeldt. Anders Nordin, Nick Döring, and Andreas Dimeo were brought ...

Peter Lindgren (musician)
Peter Lindgren (born March 6, 1973) is a Swedish musician and songwriter. He is best known as the former guitarist of Swedish progressive death metal band Opeth. Musical career Lindgren joined Opeth in 1991 as bassist for a show, but ended up switched to guitars. As explained in "The Making of Deliverance and Damnation" on Opeth's live DVD ''Lamentations'', lead-playing duties were based on ease of Mikael Ã…kerfeldt's vocal delivery and which of the two might want a given solo more. If Ã…kerfeldt was having trouble with a solo, he would hand it over to Lindgren, and vice versa. In March 2004, Peter and Mikael Ã…kerfeldt were both ranked #42 out of the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of all time by Guitar World. Throughout his career in Opeth, Lindgren has co-written the music for several songs along with Mikael Ã…kerfeldt, such as "Black Rose Immortal" from ''Morningrise'', "Demon of the Fall" from ''My Arms, Your Hearse'' as well as "Dirge for November" and "Blackwater P ...
