Johan Austbø
Johan Austbø (October 23, 1879 – December 22, 1945) was a Norwegian teacher, dancer, poet, composer, singer, and proponent of Nynorsk. Life and work Austbø was born in Ikjefjord in the municipality of Lavik in Sogn og Fjordane County. His feelings for poetry and Nynorsk were awakened when he was a student at the folk high school in Sogndal. One of his teachers, Jens Kvåle, published the Nynorsk periodical ''Ungdom'' (Youth),Haffner, Vilhelm, Karl Sofus Marius Bjørnstad, & Tallak Olsen Lindstøl. 1949. Svend Foyn
Svend Foyn (July 9, 1809 – November 30, 1894) was a Norwegian whaling, shipping magnate and philanthropist. He pioneered revolutionary methods for hunting and processing whales. Svend Foyn introduced the modern harpoon cannon and brought whaling into a modern age. He is also recognized as a pioneer who introduced sealing to Vestfold County. Background Svend Foyn was born in the neighborhood of Foynegården at Tønsberg in Vestfold, Norway. He was the son of shipmaster Laurentius Foyn (1772–1813) and Benthe Marie Ager (1781–1842). Håkon Austbø
Håkon Austbø (born October 22, 1948) is a Norwegian classical pianist. He has created many recordings for the label Brilliant Classics and Naxos Records, and is also a professor at the Amsterdam conservatory. Born in Kongsberg, Austbø studied in Paris, New York and Munich, before settling in the Netherlands in 1974. Austbø's recordings include works by Olivier Messiaen (complete works for piano), Claude Debussy (complete works for piano), Alexander Scriabin (complete piano sonatas), Erik Satie, Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Leoš Janáček (complete works for piano), and Edvard Grieg (complete ''Lyric Pieces''). Finn Bjørn Kalvik (born 30 April 1947) is a Norwegian singer and composer. Early career He was born in Fåvang, but his family moved to the working class district of Grorud, Oslo in 1952. Early in his career Kalvik found success putting music to the poetry of popular Norwegian writers André Bjerke and Inger Hagerup. He made his breakthrough in 1969 with the song ''Finne meg sjæl'', and he also had major hits in 1971 with ''En tur rundt i byen'' (based on Ralph McTell's '' Streets Of London'') and in 1975 with ''Ride ranke'' (based on Harry Chapin's ''Cat's in the Cradle''). Lillebjørn Nilsen
Bjørn "Lillebjørn" Falk Nilsen (born 21 December 1950) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and folk musician. He was born in Oslo, and is considered by some to be the leading "voice of Oslo", thanks to numerous classic songs about the city from the 1970s and onwards. He also makes up the Norwegian supergroup Gitarkameratene with Jan Eggum, Halvdan Sivertsen and Øystein Sunde. In 1987 he received the Fritt Ord Honorary Award. Nilsen has collaborated with his friend and idol Pete Seeger on numerous occasions.
