Finn Bjørn Kalvik (born 30 April 1947) is a Norwegian singer and composer. Early career He was born in Fåvang, but his family moved to the working class district of Grorud, Oslo in 1952. Early in his career Kalvik found success putting music to the poetry of popular Norwegian writers André Bjerke and Inger Hagerup. He made his breakthrough in 1969 with the song ''Finne meg sjæl'', and he also had major hits in 1971 with ''En tur rundt i byen'' (based on Ralph McTell's '' Streets Of London'') and in 1975 with ''Ride ranke'' (based on Harry Chapin's ''Cat's in the Cradle''). His first four albums reached top 15 on the Norwegian record charts: ''Tusenfryd og grå hverdag'' (1971), ''Finn'' (1972), ''Nøkkelen ligger under matta'' (1974) and ''Fyll mine seil'' (1976). The 1979 album ''Kom ut kom fram'' (1979) was produced by ABBA member/composer Benny Andersson; so was the 1981 album ''Natt og dag''. Eurovision Song Contest 1981
The Eurovision Song Contest 1981 was the 26th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Dublin, Ireland, following the country's victory at the with the song "What's Another Year" by Johnny Logan. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (RTÉ), the contest was held at the RDS Simmonscourt on 4 April 1981, and was hosted by Irish television journalist Doireann Ní Bhriain. Twenty countries participated in the contest, equalling the record of the 1978 edition. Cyprus made their début this year, while Israel and Yugoslavia both returned to the competition, after their one-year and five-year absences, respectively. Morocco and Italy decided not to participate. Morocco has never since returned to participate in the Eurovision Song contest again, marking 1980 their only ever year of participation. Norway was represented by Jahn Teigen and Anita Skorgan, with the song "Adieu", at the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 24 April in Harrogate, England. "Adieu" was chosen as the Norwegian entry at the Melodi Grand Prix on 20 March. This was a second Eurovision appearance for Teigen and a third for Skorgan. Anita Skorgan
Anita Skorgan (born 13 November 1958) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter. She represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest in (14th), (11th) and with Jan Teigen in (12th). She was also a backing singer at the and contests, and co-wrote the Norwegian Eurovision entry "For vår jord", which placed fifth. Personal life Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Skorgan was once married to Jahn Teigen, another successful Norwegian singer-songwriter; constantly in the tabloids, the two were considered the first superstar celebrity couple in Norway. Jahn Teigen
Jahn Teigen (27 September 1949 – 24 February 2020) was a Norwegian singer, musician and comedian. He represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest three times, in 1978, 1982 and 1983, His given name was Jan; he added the silent H later. From October 2006 until his death in February 2020, he resided in Sweden. Biography Popol Vuh Jahn Teigen was born in Tønsberg. He started his career in the late 1960s when he released a few singles and one album with Enemies. Norway has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 60 times since making its debut in and has only been absent twice since then. Mattis Hætta (15 March 1959 – 9 November 2022) was a Norwegian Sami singer and recording artist. In 1980, he and Sverre Kjelsberg won the 1980 Melodi Grand Prix with the entry Sámiid Ædnan and went on to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980. Sverre Kjelsberg
Sverre Kjelsberg (18 October 1946 – 18 June 2016) was a Norwegian singer, guitarist, bassist, composer, and lyricist. He was a member of the band The Pussycats from 1964. He and Mattis Hætta represented Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the entry '' Sámiid Ædnan'', which was composed by Kjelsberg and Ragnar Olsen. On 18 June 2016, Kjelsberg was found dead in his home, aged 69. He had been ill with cancer previously, but was declared cancer-free in 2015. No cause of death has been determined.
