Joffa Corfe
Jeffrey "Joffa" Corfe (born 7 July 1960) is an Australian rules football supporter best known for being the leader of the Collingwood Football Club cheer squad from 2001 to 2019. Early life Corfe, one of four boys and three girls, came from a working-class family in Melbourne. His mother, June Murphy, suffered from alcoholism and drug addiction. His father, Robert Corfe, who also suffered from alcoholism and drug addiction, drove a truck, delivered mail and had various other jobs. When he was a young child, Corfe's family moved around various suburbs in Melbourne, escaping debt and financial obligations. By the time he was 14, in the mid-1970s, Corfe had left home and was living at the Allambie Boys Home in East Burwood, where he stayed for about five years. During this time he recalls a "lovely couple" taking him to Victoria Park, where he saw his first game of football. Joff Ellen
Joff Ellen (born Raymond Charles Ellen; 20 May 191524 December 1999), was an Australian entertainer, actor and comedian. Career During World War II he performed vaudeville acts to the troops and after the war did comedy shows on Melbourne radio station 3XY 1422, now known as Radio Hellas He appeared in various children's television shows as the character ''Joffa Boy'', particularly ''The Tarax Show'', wearing a Carlton Football Club jumper and "Bombay Bloomers" with large suspenders that he would manipulate for comic effect. His entrance song (written by resident star ventriloquist Ron Blaskett) was recorded by the show's girls choir along with musical director Margot Sheridan, and went like this: ''Choir: "Who is that peeping round the corner?'' '' It's not Jack Spratt or Little Johnny Horner."'' Joffa Smith
Jonathan M. "Joffa" Smith (1 February 1967 – 26 June 2010) was a British games programmer, best known for his titles for the ZX Spectrum. His games were notable for containing a large number of sprites and parallax scrolling, features which were largely unknown on the Spectrum at the time. His most notable games include ''Cobra'', (which was a license extremely loosely based on a Sylvester Stallone film) one of the first Spectrum games to exhibit full-colour parallax scrolling and his conversion of the arcade game ''Green Beret''. A notable "trademark" of Smith's was his habit of writing his name (with "Jonathan" and "Smith" spelled various ways) as a mirror-image in his games. Emanuel Vardi
Emanuel Vardi (21 April 1915 – 29 January 2011), an American Viola, violist, was considered to have been one of the great viola players of the 20th century. Early life Emanuel Vardi was born April 21, 1915 in Jerusalem. His mother, Anna Joffa Vardi, had a piano studio with many students and started Emanuel on piano at about age 3. His father, Joseph Vardi had a violin studio and also started his son out on his instrument at about the age of 3. The family came to the United States in 1920 via Paris, France, aboard a ship called "the Asia" to escape the pogroms in the Middle East. He continued studying both piano and violin until about age 7, when he forwent piano to focus on violin. He played Mozart's Fantasy in D-minor at a recital at age 9. Colleen Howe
Colleen Janet Joffa Howe (February 17, 1933 – March 6, 2009) was a sports agent who founded Power Play International and Power Play Publications to manage the business interests of her husband, Hockey Hall of Fame, Hall of Fame hockey player Gordie Howe, as well as those of their sons Marty Howe, Marty and Mark Howe, Mark. She was married to Gordie for 55 years, until her death. As a civic leader, she brought the first Junior A hockey team to the United States, built the first indoor rink for public use in Michigan, and ran for United States Congress, Congress. John Eric Purse (born September 7, 1972 in Orlando, Florida, raised in Spring, Texas U.S.) is a former American professional "Mid School" Bicycle Motocross (BMX) racer. His prime competitive years were from 1990–2000. Nicknamed "The Vigilante" early in his pro career for his alleged dirty riding and fouling competitors and later and most famously "The Jackal" in the mid-1990s because of his "mad dog" riding style and for his not backing off and his fighting back. Jofa, originally short for ''Jonssons Fabriker'' (Jonsson's Factories) is a maker of sporting equipment for sports such as ice hockey, bandy, and horseback riding, based in Malung, Sweden. History Niss Oskar Jonsson founded Jofa in 1926. It can be considered an offspring of the hide industry in Malung; the company's first products were made out of leftovers from the hide industry, and the first factory was located in an old tannery. During World War II Jofa grew because of large orders on tents and uniforms from the Swedish military. Jofa was a subsidiary of Volvo 1973-1985 and in 1989 the company was bought by Karhu Canada Inc.
