Joey Wagman
Joseph Samuel Wagman (born July 25, 1991) is an American-Israeli right-handed professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He also plays for the Israel National Baseball Team. Wagman attended college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he was twice voted to the NCAA Big West Conference All-Conference Team, and was named a Louisville Slugger All American. He established the school record for victories in a season, with 13. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft. Pitching for the Rockford Aviators of the independent Frontier League in 2014, Wagman led the league in strikeouts and was named to the Frontier League All-Star Team. Wagman pitched for Team Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic. In 2018, he became a dual Israeli citizen. Northwoods League
The Northwoods League is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league. All players in the league must have NCAA eligibility remaining in order to participate. The league is amateur, and players are not paid, so as to maintain their college eligibility. Graduated senior pitchers are also eligible to play in the Northwoods League. Each team may have four of these players at a time. Teams play 72 games scheduled from late May to mid-August. The season itself is broken into two halves, with the winners of each half in each of the four sub-divisions playing against each other to determine a sub-divisional champion in a best-of-three series. Wisconsin Rapids Rafters
The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are a baseball team based in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin that plays in the Northwoods League, a collegiate summer baseball league. The Rafters play home games at historic Witter Field. History The Rafters name was announced in a logo unveiling ceremony on January 27, 2010. The team posted a 20-50 record in its first season in the Northwoods League. It drew 46,515 fans, ranking 7th of 16 teams in the Northwoods League. West Coast League
The West Coast League (WCL) is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league founded in 2005, comprising teams from Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and Alberta. The WCL was previously named the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League (WCCBL), but in 2008 renamed as the West Coast League. The league is designed to develop college talent, and only current college-eligible players are allowed to participate. The West Coast League has produced dozens of professional players, including a number of major leaguers. League teams are operated similarly to professional minor-league teams. A center fielder, abbreviated CF, is the outfielder in baseball who plays defense in center field – the baseball and softball fielding position between left field and right field. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the center fielder is assigned the number 8. East Bay Athletic League
The East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) is a high school sports league in the North Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. The league was created in 1964; previously teams competed in the "East Bay Division" (EBD) of the Diablo Valley Athletic League (DVAL). Its member institutions are located in the eastern region of the San Francisco Bay Area, in the cities of Concord, Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore. In the fall of 2016 the E.B.A.L. expanded to a 10 team league (De La Salle competing in boys sports & Carondelet in girls sports) by adding Dublin High School, and Dougherty Valley High School. Baseball At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Baseball was featured at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo, for the first time since the 2008 Summer Olympics. Six national teams competed in the tournament: Israel, Japan (host), Mexico, South Korea, the United States, and the Dominican Republic. Baseball/softball was one of five sports that were added to the programme of the 2020 Summer Olympics only. It will not return in 2024. The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
