''Joelma'' is the first extended play (EP) of the Brazilian singer Joelma, released on March 24, 2016 under the seal of Universal Music Group only digital download in iTunes Store. With four unreleased tracks, the EP is a preview of the first Joelma studio album, and all 4 EP tracks are present on the disc " Joelma". Background During an interview with G1 in March 2016, Joelma already point in the news: ''"First will be released my EP with four solo songs, including the first work of music "Não Teve Amor". Then, to the first half of April, the CD will be released. Until then, my audience can already get a taste of what is to come, as will sing three new songs at the shows of tour, in addition to old successes already recorded"'' The songs present in the EP only "Ai Coração" and "Não Teve Amor" had been placed for free download and presented to the public. Joelma Mendes
Joelma da Silva Mendes, best known only as Joelma (born June 22, 1974) is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and dancer. The singer since the age of 19, Joelma began her career in 1994, and in 1998 she met and married the musician and producer, Ximbinha, forming with him the Banda Calypso in June 1999. Together, achieved fame and success, and became sales record holders in albums in Brazil, launching thirteen studio albums, ten live albums and eight video albums which generated singles successes. In 2015, Joelma and Ximbinha announced the end of marriage and the band, giving birth to the recording of their first album only in the same year. ''Joelma'' is the debut solo album of Brazilian singer Joelma Mendes, initially under the stage name Joelma Calypso and later simply as Joelma. It was released on April 29, 2016, by Universal Music. The album features 14 songs, including 4 tracks from the EP '' Joelma'' released digitally in March 2016, a cover of "Barca Furada" by Banda Calypso (her former band for 15 years) and 9 previously unreleased tracks. The singer composed the music and lyrics for the song "Tua Face". She executive produced the album while sharing musical direction with experienced producer and arranger Tovinho. Her children Nathália, Yago and Yasmin, are featured in the track "O Amor de Deus", composed by Michael Sullivan. Banda Calypso
Banda Calypso was a Brazilian Brega (music), brega pop band, with influences of regional rhythms of the state of Pará. The band was formed in Belém, the state capital, in 1999 by singer/dancer Joelma (singer), Joelma da Silva Mendes and guitarist/producer Cledivan Almeida Farias, better known as Mestre Ximbinha. Early exposure of their work was restricted to only the North and Northeast regions of Brazil.
