The Joe Johnson Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding U Sports men's soccer player. The trophy was donated by the family of the longtime university soccer coach in memory of his contribution to university soccer. Paul Hamilton (born March 23, 1988) is a Canadian soccer player who currently plays for Edmonton Scottish. Previously having played professionally for the Vancouver Whitecaps, FC Edmonton and the Carolina Railhawks. Career Youth and College Hamilton played club soccer for the Calgary Foothills Irish, which he led to a U-18 Alberta Provincial Championship and a silver medal at the National Championships. He began his college soccer career at the University of Cape Breton in 2006, where he was named an AUS second team all-star and AUS Rookie of the Year. The York Lions is the official name for the athletic varsity teams that represent York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Trinity Western Spartans are the athletic teams that represent Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia. The university's teams are members of U Sports, and compete in the Canada West Universities Athletics Association, and where applicable, in the Pacific division. Since joining Canada West and U Sports in 1999, the Spartans have captured 13 U Sports team championships and 32 Canada West team championships. Ryan Anstey
Ryan Anstey (born May 13, 1983) is a Canadian former professional soccer player. He played in 2006 for Toronto Lynx, where the Lynx finished second in the Open Canada Cup. Anstey also won a national championship with his hometown Churchill Arms FC in 2010. In 2005, he was named Canadian University player of the year. Before turning pro Anstey played 5 years, in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport league (now U Sports), for the UPEI Panthers. Ryan's five years with the Panthers, he scored 43 career regular season goals, ranking him 3rd all-time in the conference behind Jeff Hibberts and Ross Webb, but first in his school's history. The Saint Mary's Huskies are the men's and women's athletic teams that represent Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Their primary home turf is Huskies Stadium located in the centre of the University's campus. In September 2007, Saint Mary's announced the plans to build the new Homburg Centre for Health & Wellness that will comprise the current gymnasium (The Tower), the new Dauphinee Arena, and a new building to connect the two. Mesut Mert (born 18 March 1978) is a Bulgarian-born Canadian football coach and former player who serves as an assistant coach for HFX Wanderers and as head coach of the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team. Playing career Mert made his USL debut with the Calgary Mustangs but joined Montreal for the 2005 season after Calgary folded.
