Ryan Anstey
Ryan Anstey (born May 13, 1983) is a Canadian former professional soccer player. He played in 2006 for Toronto Lynx, where the Lynx finished second in the Open Canada Cup. Anstey also won a national championship with his hometown Churchill Arms FC in 2010. In 2005, he was named Canadian University player of the year. Before turning pro Anstey played 5 years, in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport league (now U Sports), for the UPEI Panthers. Ryan's five years with the Panthers, he scored 43 career regular season goals, ranking him 3rd all-time in the conference behind Jeff Hibberts and Ross Webb, but first in his school's history. In 2005 Anstey led the Nation in scoring with 15 goals in only 8 games played, winning by a 4-goal margin. He was named a First Team Conference All-Star for the third consecutive year. Charlottetown
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Queen Charlotte, Charlottetown was an unincorporated town until it was incorporated as a city in 1855. It was the site of the famous Charlottetown Conference in 1864, the first gathering of Canadian and Maritime statesmen to discuss the proposed Maritime Union. Open Canada Cup
The Open Canada Cup was an annual knock-out cup competition in Canadian Soccer. The competition was first held during the 1998 season as the CPSL League Cup. It was organized by the Canadian Soccer League (formerly the Canadian Professional Soccer League) originally as a League Cup for CSL member clubs. After operating the competition for several seasons as an exclusive tournament the league's ownership decided in 2003 to grant accessibility to all Canadian professional and amateur clubs. The decision was influenced by the lack of initiative by the Canadian Soccer Association in providing a potential candidate for the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Further reforms consisted of title sponsorship with the Government of Canada and the inclusion of a financial reward for the overall champion. Canadian National Challenge Cup
The Challenge Trophy (french: Trophée Challenge) is a national amateur soccer cup in Canada contested by the champions of individual provincial soccer competitions. It is one of the oldest soccer competitions in Canada, being held since 1913. It is run by the Canadian Soccer Association. History An unofficial Dominion championship for a trophy donated by The People newspaper of London, named the Peoples Shield, was contested from 1906–1912. Montreal Impact (1992–2011)
The Montreal Impact (french: Impact de Montréal) was a Canadian professional association football, soccer club based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1993, the team played in the United Soccer League. Later, the Impact played in the North American Soccer League (2011), North American Soccer League (NASL), the second tier of the American Soccer Pyramid until the 2011 season. The owner Joey Saputo now operates the Major League Soccer, MLS team CF Montréal, which also carried the Montreal Impact name until 2021. The team played its home games at Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard until 2008 when it moved to the new Saputo Stadium where it played until its move to MLS. The team's colours were blue and white.
