Joe Boyle (baseball)
Joseph Patrick Boyle (born August 14, 1999) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2023. Amateur career Boyle attended North Oldham High School in Goshen, Kentucky, where he played baseball. As a senior in 2017, he earned All-State honors. He opted out of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, and enrolled at the University of Notre Dame to play college baseball. As a freshman for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team in 2018, Boyle pitched two innings in which he gave up four earned runs and eight walks. That summer, he played in the Northwoods League for the Kalamazoo Growlers. He also briefly played in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Cotuit Kettleers. In 2019, as a sophomore, Boyle made 18 relief appearances and went 3–3 with a 5.96 ERA, 39 strikeouts, and 27 walks over innings. Dayton Dragons
The Dayton Dragons are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. They are located in Dayton, Ohio, and play their home games at Day Air Ballpark, formerly known as Fifth Third Field. In 2011, they broke the record for most consecutive sellouts by a professional sports team, selling out their 815th consecutive game, breaking the record formerly held by the Portland Trail Blazers. Northwoods League
The Northwoods League is a collegiate summer baseball wooden bat league. All players in the league must have NCAA eligibility remaining in order to participate. The league is amateur, and players are not paid, so as to maintain their college eligibility. Graduated senior pitchers are also eligible to play in the Northwoods League. Each team may have four of these players at a time. Teams play 72 games scheduled from late May to mid-August. The season itself is broken into two halves, with the winners of each half in each of the four sub-divisions playing against each other to determine a sub-divisional champion in a best-of-three series. Samuel John Moll (born January 3, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Colorado Rockies selected Moll in the third round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft. He made his MLB debut in 2017. The Chattanooga Lookouts are a Minor League Baseball team of the Southern League and the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The Midwest League is a Minor League Baseball league established in 1947 and based in the Midwestern United States. A Class A league for most of its history, the league was promoted to High-A as part of Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. 2020 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2020 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft took place on June 10 and 11, 2020. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. The draft order was set based on the reverse order of the 2019 MLB season standings. In addition, compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2019 MLB draft and for teams who lost qualifying free agents.
