Joe Atwell
W. M. "Joe" Atwell (August 25, 1919 – December 13, 1988) was a construction investor and builder who was the co-owner of the Montreal Alouettes from 1965–1967 and sole owner from 1967-1969. Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Atwell constructed and sold upscale homes in Highland Beach, Florida and Boca Raton, Florida. In 1965, he purchased 50% of Ted Workman's shares in the Alouettes and became the team's chairman. On November 13, 1967, Atwell became the sole owner of the Alouettes. Under Atwell's sole ownership, the Alouetes never won more than 3 games in a season and missed the playoffs each year. Montreal Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes (Canadian French, French: Les Alouettes de Montréal) are a professional Canadian football team based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1946, the team has folded and been revived twice. The Alouettes compete in the Canadian Football League East Division, East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and last won the Grey Cup championship in 98th Grey Cup, 2010. Their home field is Percival Molson Memorial Stadium for the regular season and as of 2014 also home of their playoff games. Mark Edward "Ted" Workman (born December 30, 1931–August 13, 2020) was a financial advisor and former owner of the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. Early life Workman graduated from Bishop's College School and Lower Canada College. He left McGill University before graduation to manage his family's investments business. Sam Berger
Samuel Berger, (January 1, 1900 – July 24, 1992) was a Canadian owner of the Canadian Football League's Ottawa Rough Riders and Montreal Alouettes and president of the CFL. Life A lawyer by profession, he was an early football fan who became involved with the Ottawa Rough Riders team as its legal advisor, president, and as an owner. He served three, three-year terms as the club's president during which time the team made it to the Grey Cup seven times, winning the championship on four occasions. He loved football, and played for Ottawa Collegiate Institute’s team. After high school, he worked as a reporter for the Ottawa Citizen, Ottawa Journal and Toronto Star. In 1925 he started at Osgoode Hall Law School and two years later started his own law firm in Ottawa.
