Joaquín Pardavé
Joaquín Pardavé Arce (30 September 1900 – 20 July 1955) was a Mexican film actor, director, songwriter and screenwriter of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. He was best known for starring and directing various comedy films during the 1940s. In some of them, Pardavé paired with one of Mexico's most famous actresses, Sara García. The films in which they starred are '' El baisano Jalil'', '' El barchante Neguib'', ''El ropavejero'', and '' La familia Pérez''. These actors had on-screen chemistry together, and are both noted for playing a wide variety of comic characters from Lebanese foreigners to middle-class Mexicans. ''You're Missing the Point'', or ''Ahí está el detalle'' (Spanish, 'There's the rub', literally 'There lies the detail') is a 1940 Mexican comedy film starring Cantinflas. It was produced by Jesús Grovas and directed by Juan Bustillo Oro, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The film also features Joaquín Pardavé, Sara García, Sofía Álvarez, and Dolores Camarillo. It was the twelfth film in Cantinflas's career, considered one of his best by Mexican film critics, as well as one of Mexico's best films. The film's sets were designed by the art director Carlos Toussaint. Plot summary Cantinflas is the boyfriend of Paz, the household maid of Cayetano Lastre. Carmen Sofía Álvarez Caicedo (23 May 1913 – 30 April 1985) was a Colombian-Mexican actress and singer. She is best remembered for her work in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Life and career Born and raised in Colombia, she moved with her family to Mexico in 1928. Her film debut was a small part, in the role of a prostitute in ''Santa'' (1930), the first talkie of Mexican cinema. Popularly known as ''the lady of the long braids'', she enjoyed popularity during the 1930s and 1940s as an actress and singer. Subsequently, she performed with Mario Moreno Cantinflas in the popular film ''Ahí está el detalle'' (1940). In the 1940s, Álvarez is characterized by her interpretation of elegant ladies in films like ''El sombrero de tres picos'' and ''México de mis recuerdos'' (1943).
