François-Hyacinthe Choquet
François-Hyacinthe Choquet (ca. 1580–1645) was a Dominican hagiographer and spiritual author in the Spanish Netherlands. Life Choquet was born in Lille, in Walloon Flanders, around 1580. As a young man he was professed as a member of the Dominican Order in Antwerp. Iñigo de Brizuela, the Archduke Albert's Dominican confessor, sent Choquet to the University of Salamanca to study Theology. From 1608 to 1616 he taught at the Dominican house of studies in Louvain. In 1611 he attended the order's general chapter in Paris. On 28 July 1615 he was awarded a doctorate in Theology from the University of Douai. Famiano Strada (1572– 6 September 1649) was an Italian Jesuit and historian of wars in the low countries (Belgium and Netherlands) during the early part of the Eighty Years' War, starting with the abdication of Charles V in 1556 to the capture of Rheinsberg in 30 January 1590. Biography Famiano Strada was born in Rome in 1572, and entered the Jesuit order as a young man. He taught rhetoric in the Roman College in the first part of the seventeenth century. In 1617, at the demand of Ranuccio I Farnese, Duke of Parma, he was assigned the task of writing a history of the war in the Netherlands. In order to write this history, Strada was given access to the (now destroyed) private archives of the House of Farnese. He consulted a broad range of sources such as letters written by princes, instructions to ambassadors, notes by spies and so forth. Name Erycius Puteanus is a latinization of his name, which was rendered in various ways, including Hendrick van den Putte (Put, Putten), Errijck (Eryck, Eerryck) de Put or Eric van der Putte. This was also Latinized as Ericus Puteanus. He was also known as Henry du Puy. Bonaventura Speeckaert, religious name of Ingelbertus Speeckaert (–1633) was a member of the Capuchin Order from the Low Countries.
