Joani Tremblay
Joani Tremblay (born in 1984) is a painter living and working in Montreal, Quebec. Tremblay has exhibited internationally at venues including Harper’s, New York and Los Angeles; Marie-Laure Fleisch Gallery, Brussels; The Pit, Glendale, CA; Projet Pangée, Montreal; 3331 Arts Chiyoda, Tokyo; and others. Joani Tremblay investigates the perception of place through oil painting. Tremblay paints from a constructed idea of place assembling images from a variety of sources, including advertisements, social media, and field research. The artist utilizes digital collage techniques, then paints the composition onto canvas, ultimately creating an image that oscillates between figuration and abstraction. Biography Tremblay received her Bachelor in Visual Arts from Université du Québec à Montréal in 2012 and an MFA from Concordia University in 2017. RBC Canadian Painting Competition
__NOTOC__ The RBC Canadian Painting Competition was an open competition for emerging Canadian artists that was established in 1999. The RBC Canadian Painting Competition is supported by the Canadian Art Foundation, the publisher of Canadian Art (magazine). Initially naming three regional winners, since 2004 there were one national winner and two honourable mentions. The first two competitions had only winner and runner-up. The competition had 15 finalists, five from three regions in Canada, Eastern Canada (Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI, Newfoundland and Labrador), Central Canada (Ontario), Western Canada (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut). The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation
The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation (formerly The Elizabeth T. Greenshields Memorial Foundation) is a private Canadian charity that provides grants to young artists working in Representation (arts), representational painting, sculpture, drawing and/or printmaking. Recipients must be studying or in the early stage of their career. History It was established in 1955 by the Montreal lawyer Charles Glass Greenshields, Q.C.
