Jiří Novák
Jiří Novák (; born 22 March 1975) is a Czech former professional tennis player. He was born in Zlín, Czechoslovakia but resides nowadays in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Career Novák turned professional in 1993 and won seven singles and 18 doubles titles during his career, winning $7,614,063 in prize money. For six years, he was the highest-ranked male Czech tennis player in the ATP rankings. On October 21, 2002, Novák reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 5. He retired in 2007. Novák was the first player to face Roger Federer at Wimbledon. In this first-round match at the 1999 tournament, Novák defeated Federer in five sets. Novak created a tennis school in the Czech Republic and one of his students was the fourteen year old Preet Chandi before she went on to be an adventurer. Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo (; ; french: Monte-Carlo , or colloquially ''Monte-Carl'' ; lij, Munte Carlu ; ) is officially an administrative area of the Principality of Monaco, specifically the ward of Monte Carlo/Spélugues, where the Monte Carlo Casino is located. Informally, the name also refers to a larger district, the Monte Carlo Quarter (corresponding to the former municipality of Monte Carlo), which besides Monte Carlo/Spélugues also includes the wards of La Rousse/Saint Roman, Larvotto/Bas Moulins and Saint Michel. Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde defeated Paul Haarhuis and Sandon Stolle in the final, 7–6(9–7), 6–4 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2000 French Open. With the win, the Woodies completed the career Grand Slam and the career Super Slam. Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes were the defending champions, but competed with different partners. Bhupathi played alongside David Prinosil, but lost to Juan Ignacio Carrasco and Jairo Velasco Jr. in the second round. Preet Chandi
Harpreet Kaur Chandi (born 1988/1989) is a British physiotherapist and British Army medical officer who completed a solo expedition across Antarctica to the South Pole, finishing on 3 January 2022. She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 Birthday Honours. Life Chandi was born in Derby in 1988/1989 (32-years-old in November 2021). When she was aged 14 she was keen on tennis and left for a tennis school in Surrey; at the age of 16, she was in the Czech Republic, where Jiri Novak ran a tennis school. After losing interest in tennis, Chandi returned to the UK where she completed her education. She took up marathon running when she was eighteen, and also ultra-marathons, initially in the Peak District. The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuits – the ATP Tour, the ATP Challenger Tour and the ATP Champions Tour. It was formed in September 1972 by Donald Dell, Jack Kramer, and Cliff Drysdale to protect the interests of professional tennis players, and Drysdale became the first President. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). 2002 Australian Open – Mixed Doubles
The mixed doubles of the 2002 Australian Open was held for the 58th time since the first tournament back in 1922. Heading into the tournament, Corina Morariu and Ellis Ferreira were the defending champions, but could not defend their title. While Morariu did not compete this year, Ferreira partnered with Cara Black and lost in the first Round to Rita Grande and Jeff Tarango in three sets. Daniela Hantuchová and Kevin Ullyett won the title, defeating Paola Suárez and Gastón Etlis 6–3, 6–2 in the final. Australia's Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde defeated Great Britain's Neil Broad and Tim Henman in the final, 6–4, 6–4, 6–2 to win the gold medal in Men's Doubles tennis at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
