Jinhu, Kinmen
Jinhu Township () is an urban township of Kinmen (Quemoy), Fujian Province, Republic of China (Taiwan). It is in the Taiwan Strait, on the coast of mainland China. Jinhu Township is the largest township in Kinmen County. History On July 1, 1953, Canghu Township () was renamed Jinhu Township (), a rural township. In December 1957, Jinhu was changed back into an urban township. In 1959, Jinqiong Township () was created from the two villages Zhengyi and Qionglin. On September 16, 1965, Jinqiong Township was disbanded and the major part of the two villages returned to Jinhu Township. Geography It has a population of 27,368 and an area of . The township includes Dongding Island, Beiding Island, and other small islets. Army Map Service
The Army Map Service (AMS) was the military cartographic agency of the United States Department of Defense from 1941 to 1968, subordinated to the United States Army Corps of Engineers. On September 1, 1968, the AMS was redesignated the U.S. Army Topographic Command (USATC) and continued as an independent organization until January 1, 1972, when it was merged into the new Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) and redesignated as the DMA Topographic Center (DMATC). Qingtian Hall
The Qingtian Hall () is a hall in Jinhu Township, Kinmen County, Taiwan. History The hall was originally constructed in 1962 after the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis in 1958 as a place for the stations and posts of the Republic of China Armed Forces and medical shelter. The hall was created by using dynamite. Geology The hall is located at the hillside of Mount Taiwu. Architecture The hall spans over 50 meters long, 18 meters wide and 11 meters high. The Chen Jing-lan Western House () is a former house in Jinhu Township, Kinmen County, Taiwan. It is the largest Western-style house in Kinmen. History The house was originally built in 1917 by Chen Jing-lan, a local businessperson who built up his success in Singapore. A small section of the building was dedicated for his house. During World War II, the house was used as a military hospital. Eventually, the house was renovated and opened to public for exhibition. The August 23 Artillery Battle Museum () is a museum in Zhongzheng Park, Jinhu Township, Kinmen, Taiwan. History The museum was built in 1988 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 23 August 1958 Artillery War during the Second Taiwan Strait Crisis. Architecture On both sides of the museum main entrance are carved the names of the 587 ROC armed forces servicemen who lost their lives in the bombardment. On the left side are displayed the main air fighter used by the forces at that time and the main artillery piece. On the right side is one of the amphibious landing craft which played a vital role in transporting troops and materials during the battle. The museum building is surrounded by banyan trees. Taihu Reservoir
Taihu Reservoir (), also spelled as Tai-Hu Reservoir, formerly known as Huanglong Reservoir, is a reservoir located in Jinhu Township, Kinmen County, Taiwan. It is one of the main water sources of Kinmen. And the "Lake Tai" formed by the Reservoir is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Kinmen.
