Jiménez, Tamaulipas
Jiménez Municipality is a municipality located in the Mexico, Mexican state of Tamaulipas. It was founded on February 17, 1749 as Santander by Pedro Saldívar Cantú in recognition of his Basque Spanish roots.June 14th, 1757 census, Santander (Jimenez, Tamaulipas), Mexico census taken by Don Jose de Escandon. Tamaulipas (), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Tamaulipas ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Tamaulipas), is a state in the northeast region of Mexico; one of the 31 states which, along with Mexico City, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided into 43 municipalities. Tamaulipas is bordered by the states of Nuevo León to the west, San Luis Potosí to the southwest, and Veracruz to the southeast. To the north, it has a stretch of the U.S.–Mexico border with the state of Texas, and to the east it is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to the capital city, Ciudad Victoria, the state's largest cities include Reynosa, Matamoros, Nuevo Laredo, Tampico, and Mante.
