Jimmy Van Bramer
James G. Van Bramer (born August 19, 1969) is an American politician. A Democrat, who served in the New York City Council and represented the 26th district from 2010 to 2021, which includes Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, and Woodside in Queens. Van Bramer is a progressive who was one of the few members of the City Council to endorse Cynthia Nixon's campaign in the 2018 New York gubernatorial election. Early life and education Van Bramer was born and grew up in the New York City borough of Queens, the son of retired active union members. His father, William Van Bramer, was a lifelong member of Printers' and Pressman's Union Local 2. His mother, Elizabeth, helped support the family by taking a variety of jobs in their neighborhood. The New York City Council is the lawmaking body of New York City. It has 51 members from 51 council districts throughout the five Borough (New York City), boroughs. The council serves as a check against the Mayor of New York City, mayor in a mayor-council government model, the performance of city agencies land use decisions, and legislating on a variety of other issues. Helen Sears
Helen Sears (born December 22, 1929) is a New York Democrat who represented the 25th district of Queens in the New York City Council from 2002 until 2009. Personal career and early life Before becoming involved in politics, Sears was a health-care professional. She worked as a Director of Government and Community Affairs for the Health and Hospitals Corporation at Elmhurst Medical Center. Carlos Menchaca (born September 11, 1980) is an American politician who served as a member of the New York City Council for the 38th district. He is a Democrat. His district included the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Sunset Park, Red Hook, Greenwood Heights, and portions of Borough Park, Dyker Heights, and Windsor Terrace. Daniel Dromm (born November 27, 1955) is an American politician who served in the New York City Council from the 25th district from 2010 to 2021. He is a Democrat. Corey Johnson (politician)
Corey David Johnson (born April 28, 1982) is an American politician and lobbyist. A member of the Democratic Party, he was Speaker of the New York City Council from January 2018 to January 2022. The third district includes Hell's Kitchen, Chelsea, the West Village, as well as parts of Flatiron, SoHo, and the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Sunnyside Gardens is a community within Sunnyside, Queens, Sunnyside, a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens.
