James Washington Lonoikauoalii McGuire
James Washington Lonoikauoalii McGuire (January 21, 1862 – May 16, 1941) was a royal courtier of the Hawaiian Kingdom. He served as a personal attendant and dressmaker to Queen Kapiʻolani, wife of King Kalākaua. McGuire fashioned the peacock feathered dress worn by Queen Kapiolani on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. He kept a diary of his trip to the jubilee celebrations with the queen and published his account in 1938. James Thomas "Deacon" McGuire (November 18, 1863 – October 31, 1936) was an American professional baseball player, manager and coach whose career spanned the years 1883 to 1915. He played 26 seasons in Major League Baseball, principally as a catcher, for 11 different major league clubs. His longest stretches were with the Washington Statesmen/Senators (901 games, 1892–99), Brooklyn Superbas (202 games, 1899–1901) and New York Highlanders (225 games, 1904–07). He played on Brooklyn teams that won National League pennants in 1899 and 1900. McGuire was the most durable catcher of his era, setting major league catching records for most career games caught (1,612), putouts (6,856), assists (1,860), double plays turned (143), runners caught stealing (1,459), and stolen bases allowed (2,529). James McGuire (soccer)
James McGuire (1911 – November 26, 1974) was a two time president of the United States Soccer Football Association. He played professionally in the American Soccer League and the English Football League. He also earned two schoolboy caps with Scotland and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1951. Playing McGuire was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and raised in Scotland where he played twice for the national team as a schoolboy. At some point, he moved to the United States. In 1929, he signed with the Brooklyn Wanderers of the American Soccer League. In 1931, Celtic toured North America, playing the Wanderers on June 7, 1931. McGuire impressed them enough for them to sign him before returning to Scotland. McGuire never appeared for their first team and in 1932, he moved to Northampton Town of the English Football League. History Maguire was born in North Adelaide, the eldest son of John McGuire and his wife Mary, née Grant (c. 1831 – 16 April 1910), who both emigrated aboard ''Grand Trianon'' in 1855, but married in Clare, South Australia on 27 November 1855. Jim McGuire in an American college baseball coach, currently serving as head coach of the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders baseball program. He was named to that position prior to the 2013 season. McGuire's playing career began in 1982 at Illinois State. After one season, he transferred to Rend Lake, a junior college. He then completed his eligibility at Division II Cumberland. McGuire spent the 1986 season as an assistant at UMSL. He then returned to Rend Lake, serving two seasons as an assistant before being elevated to the top job in 1989. After four years, he joined Middle Tennessee as an assistant. He served as an assistant for eight years before becoming associate head coach following the 2000 season.
