Jimmy Lewis (musician)
James Eddie Lewis (November 19, 1937 – September 11, 2004) was an American soul singer, songwriter, arranger and producer. He was a member of the Drifters in the 1960s, worked as a songwriter and producer with Ray Charles, and wrote songs for Z. Z. Hill among many others. Biography Born in Itta Bena, Mississippi, he moved to Los Angeles, California by the late 1950s. He worked with songwriter Cliff Chambers and arranger James Carmichael (later the producer with The Commodores and Lionel Richie), and released a string of singles on the Cyclone and Four-J labels, including "Wait Until Spring" and "What Can I Do Now", but with limited commercial success. In 1963 he joined the Drifters, replacing Bobby Hendricks as lead singer, and remained with the group for two years. Jimmy Lewis (April 11, 1918 – 2000) was an American double bassist who worked with the Count Basie Orchestra and sextet in the 1950s and with Duke Ellington, Cootie Williams, Billie Holiday and Ivory Joe Hunter before moving to bass guitar during his time with King Curtis. He provided the basslines for the musical ''Hair''. Lewis freelanced extensively and performed on many albums by soul and jazz musicians, including Horace Silver and the Modern Jazz Quartet up until the late 1980s. He died in 2000."Requiem"

James C. Lewis was an All-American lacrosse player at Navy from 1964 to 1966, leading the Midshipmen to national titles in each of his three years, as well as perfect seasons. Navy's national titles during these years were under the Wingate Memorial Trophy format where national champions were selected by committee. Navy career In 1966, ''The Baltimore Sun'' called Lewis the "greatest living lacrosseman". He is ranked fifth all-time in Navy men's lacrosse scoring with 169 career points. Lewis earned first-team All America honors all three years while in college, as well as being named the Jack Turnbull Award winner in 1964, 1965 and 1966. In 1965, Lewis led Navy to a 12 and 0 record while defeating Army 18-7 en route to the Midshipmen's fourth straight undisputed national championship. During this stretch Navy won 22nd games in a row. James Christopher Mansel Lewis (born 3 October 1967) is a former English cricketer. Lewis was a left-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. He was born in Ditchingham, Norfolk. Lewis made his debut for Norfolk in the 1987 Minor Counties Championship against Cambridgeshire. Lewis played Minor counties cricket for Norfolk from 1987 to 1994, which included 35 Minor Counties Championship matches and 9 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. He made his List A debut against Yorkshire in the 1990 NatWest Trophy. In this match, was dismissed for 9 runs by Phil Carrick, while with the ball he bowled 8 wicket-less overs. He made a further List A appearance against Leicestershire in the 1992 NatWest Trophy. In this match, he was dismissed for a single run by Alan Mullally. Jimmy Lewis is a Hawaiian surfer, sailor and surfboard shaper. Born in Newfoundland Canada, he moved to maui when his father was stationed Hawaii. He still lives on Maui where he personally takes care of the research and development of his boards at his workshop on Nehe Place, in Haiku. At the young age of 15 years he shaped his first surfboard, showing a talent that led him to develop many innovative projects from surfing, to windsurfing, to tow-surfing, to kitesurfing, then on to stand up paddle boards. In the early 80’s Mike Waltze brought Jimmy Lewis into the limelight as the “shaper” of the moment, winning the Aloha Classic with one of Jimmy’s custom windsurf boards.
