Jimmy Kennedy (wrestler)
Jimmy Kennedy (born July 7, 1988) of Fox Lake, Illinois is an American wrestler for New York Athletic Club, who represented the United States at the 2014 World Wrestling Championships in freestyle wrestling. High school Kennedy attended Grant Community High School in Fox Lake, Illinois from 2002–2006. Kennedy was a four time place winner in the Illinois state tournament, winning state titles in 2004 and 2006, and finishing top 3 every year. Kennedy finished his high school career with a 187–3 record (98.4% winning percentage), and won the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2006 as the best high school wrestler in Illinois. College At The University of Illinois, Kennedy was a four-time NCAA qualifier and three-time NCAA All-American, including finishing fourth in 2008 and fifth in both 2009 and 2011. Fox Lake is a village in Grant and Antioch townships in Lake County, Illinois and Burton Township, McHenry County, Illinois, United States. The population was 10,978 at the 2020 census. It is located approximately 57 miles north of Chicago. History The village was incorporated on December 15, 1906, and certified by the state on April 13, 1907. The New York Athletic Club is a private social club and athletic club in New York state. Founded in 1868, the club has approximately 8,600 members and two facilities: the City House, located at 180 Central Park South in Manhattan, and Travers Island, located in Westchester County. Freestyle Wrestling
Freestyle wrestling is a style of wrestling originated from Great Britain and the United States. Along with Greco-Roman, it is one of the two styles of wrestling contested in the Olympic Games. American high school and men's college wrestling is conducted under different rules and is termed scholastic and collegiate wrestling. American collegiate women's wrestling is conducted under freestyle rules. Freestyle wrestling, like collegiate wrestling, has its greatest origins in catch-as-catch-can wrestling. In both styles the ultimate goal is to throw and pin the opponent to the mat, which results in an immediate win. Unlike Greco-Roman, freestyle and collegiate wrestling allow the use of the wrestler's or the opponent's legs in offense and defense.
