James Cutler Dunn Parker
James Cutler Dunn Parker (June 2, 1828 – November 27, 1916) was an American organist, educator and composer. Biography James Cutler Dunn Parker was born in Boston on June 2, 1828, the son of Samuel Hale Parker. He graduated from Harvard in 1848. After graduating from Harvard Law School, Parker went to the Leipzig Conservatory in 1851, where he studied piano with Ignaz Moscheles and Louis Plaidy, composition with Julius Rietz and Ernst Richter, and music theory and harmony with Moritz Hauptmann. He returned to Boston in 1854, and began offering private lessons, as he did throughout his life. In 1862, several of his private students formed the Parker Club, which offered concerts of instrumental and choral music. He married Maria Derby of Andover in 1859. They had one child. From 1864 to 1891, he served as organist at the Trinity Church, Boston, his career there coinciding almost completely with that of minister Phillips Brooks. J.C.D. James Parker (rower)
James Edward Parker (born 8 September 1842) was an English rower who won several events at Henley Royal Regatta and won the Wingfield Sculls, the amateur sculling championship of the River Thames. Parker was born at Rothley, Leicestershire the third son of James Parker and his wife Mary Babbington. His father was a barrister and Vice-Chancellor of the High Court and his mother the daughter of Thomas Babington. Parker was educated at University College, Oxford. While at Oxford, he was an active rower. In 1862, he was a member of the winning University College crew in the Ladies' Challenge Plate at Henley Royal Regatta. He also competed in the Wingfield Sculls but was runner-up to Walter Bradford Woodgate. In 1863 he was in the University College crews which won the Grand Challenge Cup and the Stewards' Challenge Cup but he never rowed in the Oxford eight. James Parker (publisher)
James Parker (1714 – July 2, 1770) was a colonial American printer, publisher, and postmaster. He published a wide variety of materials, including newspapers, government documents, magazines, and almanacs. He was a journalist in the provinces of New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut and owned several printing businesses in his lifetime. Parker worked closely with Benjamin Franklin in the printing trade, and Franklin even financed some of Parker's businesses as a silent partner. Parker was considered a better printer than William Bradford or Benjamin Franklin in the American Thirteen Colonies at the time. He established the first newspaper in the province of Connecticut and founded the first newspaper in New Jersey. James Thomas Parker (April 3, 1934 – July 18, 2005) was an American football player who played at the offensive tackle and guard positions. Parker grew up in Macon, Georgia, and played college football for Woody Hayes at Ohio State University from 1954 to 1956. He helped Ohio State win a national championship in 1954. As a senior in 1956, he was a unanimous All-American and won the Outland Trophy. Parker played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Colts from 1957 to 1967. He played on Baltimore's NFL championship teams in 1958 and 1959 and was selected as a first-team All-Pro in nine of his eleven seasons in the NFL. James "Quick" Parker (January 1, 1958 – March 27, 2018) was a Canadian football player who was a leading defensive player in the Canadian Football League. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After attending Wake Forest University from 1976 to 1979, where he was a conference all star and second in all-time career sacks with 15, Parker joined the Edmonton Eskimos in 1980, right in the middle of the greatest dynasty in CFL history.
