Jim Demetriou
James Demetriou (born 7 June 1955) is a former Australian rules football player. He later worked as a lawyer and set up the charity Sports Without Borders Australian Sports Technologies Network. Biography Demetriou was born to Tony and Chrysi Demetriou in 1955. His father was an immigrant from Cyprus who ran a fish and chips shop. Demetriou is an experienced Senior Executive/ Director in Mergers and Acquisition /cross border investment , specialist advisor in Asian investment and listed and large private board governance advisor and has sat on many government, large private and listed company boards. He has been an Asset manager of various funds particularly around Sports/ Digital health, Clean Energy, Leisure and hospitality and been involved in many major company turnarounds. The Pascoe Vale Sports Club is an Australian rules football club 11 km north-west of Melbourne in the suburb of Pascoe Vale. The club is affiliated with the Essendon District Football League. History The club was founded in 1918 and moved to its current location at Raeburn Reserve in 1925. Brunswick Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football League, Victorian Football Association (VFA) from 1897 until 1991. Based in Brunswick, Victoria, for most of their time in the Association they were known as the Magpies, and wore black and white guernseys. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Andrew Demetriou
Andrew Demetriou (born 14 April 1961) is an Australian businessman, sports administrator, and former Australian rules football player who was chief executive officer (CEO) of the Australian Football League (AFL) up to June 2014. Demetriou played 103 games for the North Melbourne Football Club between 1981 and 1987, finishing his playing career with a three-game stint for in 1988. Chairing several companies after his retirement from playing, he was appointed CEO of the AFL Players Association in 1998, and was responsible for negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement between the league and the players. Demetriou was made CEO of the AFL in 2003, replacing Wayne Jackson. In his role as head of the AFL Commission, he was responsible for a number of changes, including the expansion of the league from 16 to 18 teams, the restructuring of the tribunal system, and the brokering of two new television rights deals.
