Jim Campbell (comics)
Jim Campbell (born 1977), also known by his pseudonym "Angry Jim", is an American storyboard artist, comic artist, and musician living in Brooklyn, New York. Biography Early life and illustration work While studying at the Kansas City Art Institute, he founded the band Ottomen with fellow Illustration students David (Misung) Stevenson and George Garcia. In 2000, he moved to New York, and in 2001, he joined Meathaus, a comics art collective and the publisher of the Meathaus Anthologies. In 2004, he released his comic book series ''Krachmacher'' and began singing and playing guitar in a new band, Paper Fleet, with Joshua Inman (drummer, songwriter). The two soon added Jim's high school friend John TerLouw on bass. Jim's other work includes freelance illustration and coloring work for Tony Millionaire. The Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) is a private art school in Kansas City, Missouri. The college was founded in 1885 and is an accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and Higher Learning Commission. It has approximately 75 faculty members and 700 students. Tony Millionaire (born Scott Richardson in 1956) is an American cartoonist, illustrator and author known for his syndicated comic strip ''Maakies'' and the ''Sock Monkey'' series of comics and picture books. He lives in Yarmouth, Maine at Pleasant St. Studios with artist and educator Kat Gillies. Early life Millionaire grew up in and around the seaside town of Gloucester, Massachusetts. He came from a family of artists – his father was a commercial illustrator, his mother and grandparents were painters – and was encouraged to draw from an early age. His grandfather, who was a friend of the cartoonist Roy Crane, had a large collection of old Sunday comics, which were an early source of inspiration to Millionaire. He drew his first comic strip, "about an egg-shaped superhero who flew around talking about how great he was and then crashing into a cliff," when he was nine years old. ''The Drinky Crow Show'' is an American adult computer-animated cel-shaded animated television series created by Eric Kaplan and Tony Millionaire, based on the latter's comic strip ''Maakies''. The pilot episode aired on Adult Swim on May 13, 2007. The series premiered on November 23, 2008 and ended its run on January 25, 2009. The cancellation of the show was confirmed by a Maakies comic. Dino Stamatopoulos provided the voice of the title character and David Herman the voices of Uncle Gabby and Captain Maak.
