Jigoku-Retsuden
''Jigoku-Retsuden'' (地獄烈伝, which roughly translates to "Legends from Hell / Hell's Legends"), also known as ''Kissology'' and ''Kiss Klassics'', is a limited-edition CD/DVD set released in 2008 by the band Kiss, exclusively in Japan. The CD portion of the bundle includes 15 re-recorded classic Kiss tracks by the 2008 band line-up (Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer, Eric Singer). The DVD portion of the bundle is concert footage from a 1977 performance at Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The CD was re-released on October 6, 2009, by Kiss as part of a digipack deluxe edition of their album ''Sonic Boom'' along with concert footage from the Alive 35 Tour. Tommy Thayer
Thomas Cunningham Thayer (born November 7, 1960) is an American musician and songwriter. He is the lead guitarist and vocalist for the American hard rock band Kiss. He was also lead guitarist for the band Black 'n Blue. Early life Thomas Cunningham Thayer was born on November 7, 1960, in Portland, Oregon, and grew up in the nearby suburb of Beaverton, Oregon. His mother Patricia Thayer (née Cunningham) was a classically trained violinist and singer, and his father, James Thayer (1922-2018), was a businessman, community leader and retired US Army Brigadier General. Early on, Thayer was raised with three brothers and a sister in a musical family, exposed to genres that ranged from classical to the Beatles and other classic 1960s pop music. Deuce (song)
"Deuce" is a song by the American hard rock band Kiss, written by bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons. The song appeared on Kiss' eponymous 1974 debut album. In addition to being one of the band's most popular and most-covered songs, "Deuce" is a traditional concert opener. The song has appeared on many Kiss live and compilation albums. Background According to Gene Simmons, he simply copied the bassline of the Rolling Stones' "Bitch" and played it more or less backwards. "I wrote 'Deuce' on the bass," he said, "so the guitars ended up shadowing the bass line or variations of it in different octaves". The entire song was written nearly linearly; the riff came first, then the bridge, then finally the chorus. While uncredited, Paul Stanley provided the lightly phased intro riff, inspired by the Raspberries' " Go All the Way". It was released on November 21, 2006, as part of the ''Kiss Alive! 1975–2000'' box set. Album information It was recorded on December 31, 1999, at BC Place, BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada and included songs that had never before been performed by the original lineup ("Heaven's on Fire", "I Love It Loud" and "Lick It Up (song), Lick It Up"). It was originally intended to be released as ''Alive IV'' in 2000 but was shelved when Kiss' parent label Mercury Records, Mercury was swallowed by the Universal Music, Universal/Vivendi merger. However, the album's version of "Rock and Roll All Nite" was included in ''The Box Set (Kiss), The Box Set'' which was released on November 20, 2001. ''Kiss Alive 35'' is a series of 2 CD live albums, each containing a recording of the complete set from a European show on the KISS Alive/35 World Tour from 2008. The second set of recordings from the North American leg of this tour was released in 2009. Album information The discs are recorded and distributed through Concert Live. There is a limited run of 1500 CDs for each recorded show. The setlists differ slightly between shows, but they are mostly made up of tracks from their 1975 live album, ''Alive!''. This is the first album cover to feature Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer in Kiss makeup. All of the ''Alive 35'' albums are now out of print. Some of the compilations are sold out as well. Hotter Than Hell (Kiss Song)
"Hotter than Hell" is a song by the American hard rock band Kiss, released on their second album of the same name in 1974. It was written by the band's rhythm guitarist Paul Stanley, and displays the heavy influence of the band Free. Despite being rarely performed during the years, "Hotter than Hell" has appeared on many of the band's albums. It has also appeared as a B-side to the album's lone single, "Let Me Go, Rock 'n' Roll". Background "Hotter than Hell", as Stanley has stated, was basically a rewrite of the Free song "All Right Now", due to the fact that Stanley was a big fan of Free and the song meant a lot to him. Alive 35 World Tour
The Alive 35 World Tour was a 2008–2009 concert tour by Kiss to celebrate their 35th anniversary. It was the band's first major tour since the Rock the Nation World Tour in 2004. On the tour, Kiss played in Europe for the first time since the Psycho Circus World Tour in 1999. Kiss wore ''Destroyer''-themed costumes for the tour, but the majority of the songs played were on '' Alive!''. The tour was highly successful and proved to be Kiss's biggest tour of Europe. This tour marked the first time Kiss visited Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Russia, Luxembourg, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. Three legs and 38 shows were announced. Robert Alan Ezrin (born March 25, 1949) is a Canadian music producer and keyboardist, best known for his work with Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, Andrea Bocelli and Phish. As of 2010, Ezrin's career in music had spanned four decades and his production work continued into the 21st century, with acts such as Deftones and Thirty Seconds to Mars.
