Jesse Compher
Jesse Compher (born July 1, 1999) is an American professional ice hockey player for PWHL Toronto of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She is also a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team, and represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Playing career Compher began her collegiate career for the Boston University Terriers during the 2017–18 season. She made her debut for the Terriers on September 23, 2017, in a game against Merrimack. She recorded her first two collegiate goals on November 28, 2017, in a 6–4 victory over Brown. She finished the season with nine goals and 17 assists in 37 games for the Terriers, ranking third on the team in points. Her 17 assists ranked second in the league among rookies. Following an outstanding freshman season, she was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. Toronto is a professional ice hockey team based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. They are one of the six charter franchises of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). 2023 PWHL Draft
The 2023 PWHL Draft was the first draft in Professional Women's Hockey League history, and took place on September 18, 2023, at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Minnesota Golden Gophers forward Taylor Heise was the first player chosen in the draft, selected by Minnesota. In all, 90 players were selected over 15 rounds of drafting. Patty Kazmaier Award
The Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award is given to the top female college ice hockey player in the United States. The award is presented during the women's annual ice hockey championship, the Frozen Four. The award was first presented in 1998. The award is named in honor of the late Patty Kazmaier-Sandt, a four-year varsity letter winner and All Ivy League honoree for the Princeton University women's ice hockey team from 1981 through 1986. She also played field hockey and lacrosse. She died on February 15, 1990 at the age of 28 from a rare blood disease. Patty was the daughter of Heisman Trophy winner Dick Kazmaier. RIT Tigers Women's Ice Hockey
The RIT Tigers women's ice hockey team is one of two hockey teams representing Rochester Institute of Technology in suburban Rochester, New York. The team moved to NCAA Division I women's ice hockey as a member of College Hockey America after many years at Division III as part of the ECAC West conference. The Bruce B. Bates Women's Hockey Coach is former RIT player and captain Celeste Brown. History RIT added women's varsity hockey for the 1975–1976 season.
