Jerusalem Derby
The Jerusalem derby refers to football matches between Jerusalem-based teams Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Jerusalem. The teams have met on 70 separate occasions, 58 of which were in the league, 6 in the State Cup, two in the Toto Cup and one Exhibition game in 1969 that Hapoel win. Beitar Jerusalem has been the more dominant side in the derby, with 32 wins, while Hapoel Jerusalem won 16 times. Both clubs play in Teddy Stadium, a stadium ironically named after Jerusalem's left leaning mayor at the time Teddy Kollek. The derby, which was formerly more popular, lost some of its relevance as Hapoel Jerusalem were relegated to the second division in the 1999–2000 Israeli Premier League, which would be the last time both teams met for the next 2 decades. Beitar-Hapoel Rivalry
The Beitar Jerusalem F.C.–Hapoel Tel Aviv F.C. rivalry refers to the inter-city sports rivalry, rivalry between Israeli football clubs Beitar Jerusalem and Hapoel Tel Aviv F.C., Hapoel Tel Aviv. The rivalry stems from the political differences of the two clubs on the political spectrum as both represent opposites of the spectrum, with Hapoel representing left-wing Israeli Labor Party, Labor voters, and Beitar representing right-wing Likudniks. 2021–22 Toto Cup Al
The 2021–22 Toto Cup Al is the 37th season of the third-important football tournament in Israel since its introduction and the 16th tournament involving Israeli Premier League clubs only. Maccabi Tel Aviv are the defending champions. Format changes The four clubs playing in the UEFA competitions (Maccabi Haifa, Maccabi Tel Aviv, F.C. Ashdod and Hapoel Be'er Sheva) will not take part in the group stage, while the remaining ten clubs were divided into two groups of five, at the end of the group stage each of the group winners will qualify to the semi-finals. 1999–2000 Israeli Premier League
The 1999–2000 Israeli Premier League season was the first in its history. The league had been formed to replace the former top division, Liga Leumit, which became the country's second tier. Before the season started Ironi Ashdod and Liga Alef side Hapoel Ashdod were merged into F.C. Ashdod. The season took place from the first match on 14 August 1999 to the final match on 27 May 2000. The Betar Movement ( he, תנועת בית"ר), also spelled Beitar (), is a Revisionist Zionist youth movement founded in 1923 in Riga, Latvia, by Vladimir (Ze'ev) Jabotinsky. Chapters sprang up across Europe, even during World War II. After the war and during the settlement of what became Israel, Betar was traditionally linked to the original Herut and then Likud political parties of Jewish pioneers. Teddy Kollek
Theodor "Teddy" Kollek ( he, טדי קולק; 27 May 1911 – 2 January 2007) was an Israeli politician who served as the mayor of Jerusalem from 1965 to 1993, and founder of the Jerusalem Foundation. Kollek was re-elected five times, in 1969, 1973, 1978, 1983, and 1989. After reluctantly running for a seventh term in 1993 at the age of 82, he lost to Likud candidate and future Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Olmert.
