Jerry Tucker (actor)
Jerry Tucker (born Jerome Harold Schatz, November 1, 1925 – November 23, 2016) was an American child actor, most notable for having played the "rich kid" in the ''Our Gang'' short subjects series semi-regularly from 1931 to 1938. Life and career Tucker was born Jerome Harold Schatz in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Ruth (Keno) and Leonard Schatz. His German Jewish surname was changed to "Tucker" for his acting career. Tucker first appeared in the 1931 Our Gang short ''Shiver My Timbers''. He appeared in seventeen ''Our Gang'' comedies through 1938's ''Three Men in a Tub''. In addition to his ''Our Gang'' appearances, Tucker appeared in the Marie Dressler film ''Prosperity'', again as a spoiled rich kid. He also appeared as one of Mother Peep's children in the Laurel & Hardy feature film '' Babes in Toyland'' (1934). ''Captain January'' is a 1936 American musical comedy-drama film directed by David Butler. The screenplay by Sam Hellman, Gladys Lehman, and Harry Tugend is based on the 1890 children's book of the same name by Laura E. Richards. The film stars Shirley Temple, Guy Kibbee, and Sara Haden. Plot On the day he is promoted to head clerk (or "head cluck," as Spanky mistakenly puts it), Spanky's father (Emerson Treacy) declares that it is time Spanky stopped sleeping in his parents' room and go to bed in his own room. ''The Phantom President'' is a 1932 American pre-Code musical comedy and political satire film. It was directed by Norman Taurog, starred George M. Cohan, Claudette Colbert, and Jimmy Durante, with songs by Richard Rodgers (music) and Lorenz Hart (lyrics). According to Rodgers, Cohan deeply resented having to work with Rodgers and Hart on the film. Cohan was bitter that his type of musical theatre had gone out of fashion, supplanted by the more literate and musically sophisticated shows of Rodgers and Hart, among others.
