Jerry Deloach
Jerry Andre DeLoach (born July 17, 1977) is a former American football defensive end. He played college football at California. An undrafted player in the National Football League (NFL), DeLoach played for the Washington Redskins from 2000 to 2001 and Houston Texans from the team's first season in 2002 to 2005. Early life and college career DeLoach was born and raised in Sacramento, California, where he graduated from Valley High School in 1995. At the University of California, Berkeley, DeLoach played at defensive end for the California Golden Bears from 1996 to 1999. In his first three seasons, DeLoach had 98 total tackles including 19 for loss totaling 80 yards, 6.5 sacks, and one interception. Danny Wuerffel
Daniel Carl Wuerffel (born May 27, 1974) is a former college and professional American football quarterback. Wuerffel attended the University of Florida, where he was a prolific passer for the Florida Gators under head coach Steve Spurrier. Wuerffel led the NCAA in touchdown passes in 1995 and 1996 and set numerous school and conference records during his career. During his senior year in 1996, Wuerffel won the Heisman Trophy while leading the Gators to their first national championship. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2013. After graduating from Florida, Wuerffel was drafted by the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He spent six years in the league with four teams, including the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins, though his playing time and on-field success in the NFL was limited. The 2005 Houston Texans season was the franchise's 4th season in the National Football League and the 4th and final season under head coach Dom Capers. The Texans completed the season with the worst record in franchise history (a record that would later be matched in 2013). This led to the Texans obtaining the first selection in the NFL Draft for the second time since the franchise formed in 2002. The team fired head coach Dom Capers after the season; he was replaced by Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, who would coach the team up until 2013. The 2005 NFL season was the 86th regular season of the National Football League. Regular season play was held from September 8, 2005 to January 1, 2006. The regular season also saw the first ever regular season game played outside the United States, as well as the New Orleans Saints being forced to play elsewhere due to damage to the Superdome and the entire New Orleans area by Hurricane Katrina. 2004 Houston Texans Season
The 2004 season was the Houston Texans' third in the National Football League, all of which they had spent under head coach Dom Capers. The team finished 7–9, two games better than the previous season, and came third in the AFC South, the first time they had not finished bottom. The Texans also earned their first victory over the Tennessee Titans, the franchise previously known as the Oilers, who had left Houston after the 1996 season. Quarterback David Carr, who missed four games the previous season, started all 16 games in 2004. Carr finished 2004 as his best season with Houston, finishing 285-of-466 for 3,531 yards with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. The 2002 NFL season was the 83rd regular season of the National Football League. The league went back to an even number of teams with the addition of the Houston Texans; the league has remained static with 32 teams since. The clubs were realigned into eight divisions, four teams in each. Also, the Chicago Bears played their home games in 2002 in Champaign, Illinois at Memorial Stadium because of the reconstruction of Soldier Field. The NFL title was won by Tampa Bay when they defeated Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII, at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California on January 26, 2003.
