Jerry Anderson (golfer)
Gerald Ashton Anderson (22 September 1955 – 9 March 2018) was a Canadian professional golfer. Anderson was born in Montreal, Quebec and then moved to Cambridge, Ontario. Anderson played on the European Tour for most of the 1980s. In 1984 he won the Ebel European Masters – Swiss Open, by shooting a 27 under par total of 261, which was a record 72-hole score to par on the European Tour until Ernie Els shot a 29 under par score at the 2003 Johnnie Walker Classic. Anderson finished ninth on the European Tour Order of Merit in 1984, making it into the top fifty. He was a member of the U.S.-based PGA Tour in 1990 and 1992. He represented Canada at the Alfred Dunhill Cup in 1985 and at the World Cup in 1983, 1987, and 1989. He was inducted into the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame in 2002 and the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame in 2016. Anderson died in Kitchener, Ontario in 2018 at the age of 62. Ebel European Masters Swiss Open
The Omega European Masters is the Swiss stop on professional men's golf's European Tour, and in 2009 it became the first event in Europe to be co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour. Founded as the Swiss Open in 1923, the tournament was prefixed with European Masters in 1983, before dropping Swiss Open from the title in 1992. During the 1971 event, Baldovino Dassù became the first player to score 60 for 18 holes on the European circuit. The tournament has been held at the Golf-Club Crans-sur-Sierre at Crans-Montana in Valais since 1939, and is currently played in early September each year. Jim Rutledge
James Edgar Rutledge (born August 26, 1959) is a Canadian professional golfer who currently plays on the Champions Tour. Rutledge was born in Victoria, British Columbia. He won the Canadian Juvenile Championship in 1975 at the Gorge Vale Golf Club in Victoria and the Canadian Junior Championship in 1977. He turned professional in 1978. For the first 20 years of his career, Rutledge would play in Asia in the winter and in Canada for the rest of the year. He did not do this from 1988 to 1992 though. During that time Rutledge was a member of the European Tour, where his best finish on the Order of Merit came in 1990 when he finished in 55th, earning £75,274. He played in his first major at the 1990 Open Championship, where he was high on the leaderboard going into the weekend, but ended up finishing T-57. The Saskatchewan Open was a golf tournament on PGA Tour Canada that was held in Saskatchewan, Canada. Founded in 1919, the Saskatchewan Open was held annually until 1981, only missing from the calendar in 1924 when the Western Canada tournament was held in Saskatchewan and for four years during the Second World War. Following the withdrawal of major sponsors, Molson Brewery, it was not held in 1982. Still lacking sponsors, it returned in 1983 and 1984 but as a relatively minor event before entering an extended hiatus. Having not been played from 1985 to 2007, it was revived in 2008. The Ontario Open is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour Canada that is held in Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1923 and held every year through 1979, when the Peter Jackson Tour ended. After a long hiatus, an attempted revival in 1989 lasted only one year before the tournament returned for a five year run from 1992 to 1996, during which it was sponsored by the town of Newmarket, Ontario in the first year and then by Export "A" cigarettes. Bob Friend (born December 5, 1963) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Golfing career Friend joined the Ben Hogan Tour (now Nationwide Tour) in 1990 and recorded five top-10 finished including a second-place finish at the Ben Hogan El Paso Open during his rookie year on Tour. The following year he won the Ben Hogan Fort Wayne Open and earned his PGA Tour card for 1992 through qualifying school. In his rookie year on Tour he didn't play well enough to retain full-time status on Tour but his 137th-place finish gave him partial status. He split time between Tours in 1993 with the highlights of his year coming on the Nationwide Tour where he recorded a second-place finish and a tied for third finish. Fran Quinn Jr. (born March 11, 1965) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He previously played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Quinn was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, and attended Saint John's High School, where he graduated in 1983 and Northwestern University, where he graduated in 1987 with a degree in economics. He turned professional in 1988. Quinn played his first full season on the Nationwide Tour, then Ben Hogan Tour, in 1991, where he made 13 of 25 cuts. Later in the year he finished T8 at Q-School, obtaining his PGA Tour card for 1992. He made only 6 of 18 cuts in 1992 and lost his tour card for 1993.
