Jerome Ramatlhakwane
Jerome "Jay-Jay" Ramatlhakwana (born 29 May 1985) is a Motswana professional footballer who currently plays for Township Rollers as a striker. Club career Born in Lobatse, Ramatlhakwana has played in Botswana for Mogoditshane Fighters and Mochudi Centre Chiefs, in Cyprus for APOP Kinyras Peyias, and in South Africa for Santos and Vasco da Gama. In January 2013 signed for Mochudi Centre Chiefs. Ramatlhakwana was meant to move from Santos to Vasco da Gama in the summer of 2010, but a transfer fee wasn't agreed until January 2011. After his work permit was initially denied, Ramatlhakwane didn't sign for Vasco da Gama until April 2011; he scored on his debut. International career Ramatlhakwane scored on his senior debut for Botswana in a 1–0 win over Swaziland in November 2006, and has appeared in FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. Selebi-Phikwe
Selebi-Phikwe (also spelt ''Selibe Phikwe'') is a mining town located in the Central District of Botswana. It had a population of 42,488 in 2022. The town is an administrative district, separate from the surrounding Central District. Mining Nickel mining commenced in 1973 and has been the main activity since. The complex includes a mine and a smelter. All operations are now deep mining. Originally there were two tiny places called Selebi and Phikwe, which straddled a large undiscovered deposit of copper and nickel in the area. When the mineral wealth of the area was discovered in the 1960s a mine and a township were built in the woodland between the places with the combined name of Selebi-Phikwe. The main source of employment was the BCL Limited mine which excavated and smelted mixed copper-nickel ore from several shafts in deep and opencast mines. The opencast pit is now unused. 2012 Africa Cup Of Nations Qualification
This page details the process of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualification phase. Forty-six African nations, including hosts Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, entered the competition. Gabon and Equatorial Guinea automatically qualified as host countries. The other 44 nations were drawn into eleven groups, each containing 4 teams. Togo was later added to Group K after its reinstatement. In each group, teams played each other home and away in a round-robin format. The Swaziland Four Nations Tournament 2008 soccer finals were held from February 9 to February 10, 2008, at the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba, Swaziland. Swaziland, Botswana, Lesotho and Mozambique IX were the teams who played in this tournament. Malawi were originally due to take part, but withdrew at the last moment and Mozambique took their part. Somhlolo
Sobhuza I (also known as Ngwane IV, Somhlolo) (1788–1850) was king of Eswatini, from 1815 to 1850. Born around the year 1788, his father was King Ndvungunye (also known as ''Zikodze''), and his mother was Somnjalose Simelane. He was called Somhlolo, "the Wonder," upon his birth because his father, Ndvungunye, was struck by lightning. When Sobhuza was king, Lojiba Simelane, instead of his mother, Somnjalose was Queen Mother because Somnjalose was an ''inhlanti'' or support bride to Lojiba. The Botswana National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Gaborone, Botswana. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 25,000 people. Overview The pitch is surrounded by an athletics track, the stadium is coupled with a rugby venue, which has fallen into disuse, and a tennis facility. The stadium was made up of a total of 10 stands, three of which are covered. The three large stands on each end of the stadium made up the north and south ends. The west side of the stadium is made up of three covered stands, while the east end is made up of one giant uncovered stand. After the 2016 renovations, the 3 north stands were joined together.
