Jerome Jones (tennis)
Jerome Jones is an American former professional tennis player. A left-hander from Los Angeles, Jones was an All-American collegiate tennis player for Pepperdine University during the early 1980s. In 1984 he claimed the NCAA Division I doubles championship with Kelly Jones (tennis), Kelly Jones (no relation), beating Rick Leach and Tim Pawsat of USC in the final. Jones partnered with Kelly Jones at the 1984 US Open (tennis), 1984 US Open and they won their first round match over Ilie Nastase and Adriano Panatta. He reached a best world ranking of 177 in doubles. Tennis
Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). Each player uses a tennis racket that is strung with cord to strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to manoeuvre the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. All-America
The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. Kelly Jones (tennis)
Kelly Jones (born March 31, 1964) is an American former doubles world No. 1 tennis player. Jones reached the finals in doubles at the Australian and US Opens in 1992. He is currently the Head Men's Tennis Coach at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Biography Jones played varsity tennis at Pepperdine University from 1982 to 1985, where he won the NCAA Division 1 doubles title in 1984 and 1985. He was a member of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games U.S. tennis team. Jones joined the professional tour in 1986. He won his first top-level doubles title in 1987 at Auckland. In 1988, Jones finished runner-up in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon, partnering Gretchen Magers. Rick Leach
Rick Leach (born December 28, 1964) is a former professional tennis player and a coach from the United States. A doubles specialist, he won five Grand Slam doubles titles (three at the Australian Open, one at Wimbledon, and one at the US Open), and four mixed doubles titles (two at the Australian Open, one at Wimbledon, and one at the US Open). He reached the world No. 1 doubles ranking in 1990. Leach was a member of the US team which won the Davis Cup in 1990. Partnering Jim Pugh, he won the doubles rubbers in all four of the rounds which the US played in that year, and clinched the team's victory in the final with a win over Pat Cash and John Fitzgerald of Australia. Adriano Panatta
Adriano Panatta (born 9 July 1950) is a former professional tennis player from Italy. He won the French Open in 1976, and was the only player ever to defeat Björn Borg at Roland Garros, doing so on two occasions. He is also the only Italian man to win a men's singles Grand Slam title in the Open Era. He is currently a regular guest of the RAI broadcast '' Quelli che... il Calcio'' from 2018 to 2021.
