Jeroen Willems
Jeroen Willems (; 15 November 1962 – 3 December 2012) was a Dutch Golden Calf and Louis d'Or winning film, TV, and stage actor and singer. Early life Willems was born on 15 November 1962 in Maastricht, the third child of a drama teacher and an elocutionist. Soon afterwards, the family moved to Heerlen. Willems' father died in 1978, age 52, when Jeroen was 15 years old. Willems attended the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts. Career Willems was attached to theatrical company Theatergroep Hollandia. He could be seen in ''La Musica'' (1991), the solo show ''Twee stemmen'' (from 1997 on) and ''La Musica Twee'' (2003). He also played with other companies, including Het Zuidelijk Toneel/Hollandia, het Nationale Toneel, and the Flemish company De Tijd. With Oostpool, he played in the musical stage production ''Brel, de zoete oorlog''. In the show, he also sang a couple of songs of Jacques Brel, translated to Dutch. ''De wederopstanding van een klootzak'' (English: "The resurrection of a bastard") is a 2013 film by Dutch filmmaker Guido van Driel. The Netherlands Film Fund ( nl, Nederlands Filmfonds) is a subsidy fund for Dutch film productions and was founded in 1993. The Netherlands Film Fund is itself mainly subsidized by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. In 2007, the total budget of the fund was €33,000,000. The fund gave €651,174 subsidy to the film ''Character'' (1997) and €578,570 to the film '' Black Book'' (2006). The VPRO (stylized vpro; originally an acronym for , ) is a Dutch public broadcaster, which forms a part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. Founded in 1926 as a liberal Protestant broadcasting organization, it gradually became more social liberal than Protestant in the 1950s and 1960s, and the original meaning of the acronym was eventually dropped. In 1967, VPRO was the first broadcaster in the Netherlands to show a nude woman – Phil Bloom – on national television. The VPRO is known for sometimes producing avant-garde programs, documentaries and films. ''Simon'' is a 2004 Dutch drama film directed by Eddy Terstall. The story is about two male friends, one heterosexual and one gay. Same sex marriage and euthanasia are prominent themes of the film.
