Simon (2004 Film)
''Simon'' is a 2004 Dutch drama film directed by Eddy Terstall. The story is about two male friends, one heterosexual and one gay. Same sex marriage and euthanasia are prominent themes of the film. The film has won three Golden Calves, for Best Actor (Cees Geel), Best Director (Eddy Terstall) and Best Feature Film, as well as the Audience Award (Eddy Terstall) of the Netherlands Film Festival. It was also the Dutch entry for the Oscars in 2005. Plot One of the characters is Camiel, a gay dentist who marries his lover and the other is Simon (Cees Geel), a heterosexual drugs dealer and lady magnet. They become close friends in the late 1980s, but Camiel does something that interrupts their friendship. After fourteen years Camiel and Simon meet again, but Simon is now terminally ill with cancer. Simon has a daughter, Joy (Nadja Hüpscher) and a son, Nelson ( Stijn Koomen). They develop a friendship with Camiel and his husband and after Simon's death Camiel adopts them. Cast * ... The Maedi (also ''Maidans'', ''Maedans'', or ''Medi''; grc, Μαῖδοι or Μαιδοί) were a Thracian tribe in antiquity. In historic times, they occupied the area between Paionia and Thrace, on the southwestern fringes of Thrace, along the middle course of the Strymon, between the Kresna Gorge and the Rupel Pass (present-day south-western Bulgaria). Strabo says that the Maedi bordered eastward on the Thunatae of Dardania, and that the Axius flowed through their territory. Their capital city was Iamphorynna, which lay somewhere in the southwest corner of what is now Bulgaria. Some archaeologists posit it in the area between the cities of Petrich and Sandanski, but its exact location remains unknown. Araba Walton (born 4 November 1975 in Simbach am Inn, Germany) is an Afro-German actress and singer. She completed a three-year course at the School of Acting, The Arts Educational Schools in London after studying theater studies in Munich, Germany. Walton played in several West End and Off West End productions before moving end of 2001 to Hamburg to perform in a leading role in the musical '' Der König der Löwen'' (''The Lion King'').
