Jenny (schooner)
The ''Jenny'' was an alleged English schooner and the subject of an unproven legend. The story goes that the ''Jenny'' became frozen in an ice-barrier of the Drake Passage in 1823, only to be rediscovered in 1840 by a whaling ship, the bodies aboard being preserved by the Antarctic cold. The original report has been deemed "unsubstantiated". The earliest known source for the story appears to be an article in the Wiener Zeitung published on 19 February 1841. In the following weeks, the same text was printed in at least seven other newspapers. On the occasion of the McClintock Arctic expedition, the story of the schooner Jenny was remembered again, e. g. within an anonymous article in an 1862 edition of Globus, a popular German geographical magazine. Account The supposed account describes how the ship left its home port on the Isle of Wight in 1822. (Translated from Globus, Bd 1, 1862, pp. 60 –61) The ship was discovered frozen in ice in the Drake Passage by a Captain Brig ... ''Night Rains'' is the eleventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Janis Ian, originally released in 1979 on Columbia Records. She initially focused on writing film music for ''Foxes (film), Foxes'' and ''The Bell Jar (film), The Bell Jar'', and then adopted a fully commercial pop sound, collaborating with Albert Hammond of "It Never Rains in Southern California" fame on one song, and with superstar disco producer Giorgio Moroder on two tracks including the ''Foxes'' theme. E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons played on two songs and jazz pianist Chick Corea on "Jenny (Iowa Sunrise)". Consequent upon its release alongside twenty-four other Columbia Records albums in the fall of 1979, ''Night Rains'' was effectively un-promoted by the label in the United States and bec ...
