Jennifer Veiga
Jennifer L. Veiga (born October 10, 1962http://www.jenveiga.com/test/?page_id=9) is a former American attorney and politician from Colorado. Veiga is a former Democrat member of Colorado House of Representatives and member of Colorado's 31st Senate district, covering downtown and north-central Denver. She announced on April 7, 2009 that she would be resigning her seat to move to Australia where her partner's mother was ill. Her resignation became effective on May 15 and, on May 29, Pat Steadman was sworn-in as her successor. Biography Graduating from Irvine High School in 1980, she went on to the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 1983. Colorado's 31st Senate district is one of 35 districts in the Colorado Senate. It has been represented by Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Chris Hansen (politician), Chris Hansen since 2020, following the resignation of fellow Democrat Lois Court. Geography District 31 is based in the central and southeastern neighborhoods of Denver, including Capitol Hill (Denver), Capitol Hill; the district also includes the Arapahoe County, Colorado, Arapahoe County Enclave and exclave, exclaves of Glendale, Colorado, Glendale and Holly Hills, Colorado, Holly Hills. The City of Wheat Ridge is a home rule municipality located in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. Wheat Ridge is located immediately west of Denver and is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mark Steven Ferrandino (born August 9, 1977) is a former legislator in the U.S. state of Colorado and former Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives. Appointed to the legislature in 2007, Ferrandino represented House District 2, encompassing south central Denver from 2012 to 2014. He is the first openly gay male legislator in Colorado history. Bill Ritter (politician)
August William Ritter Jr. (born September 6, 1956) is an American politician and lawyer who served as the 41st Governor of Colorado from 2007 to 2011. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the district attorney for Denver before his election to the governorship in 2006. Ritter was the first Colorado-born person to be elected as Governor of Colorado since 1975, as well as being the first Democratic officeholder in 50 years to serve with a Democratic majority in the Colorado General Assembly.
