Jemmal
Jemmal ( ar, جمال) is a city in the Monastir Governorate of Tunisia, located about south of Monastir. As of 2014 it had a population of 50,275. The city is well known for its historic Grand Mosque and is at the centre of a region of olive groves. A festival takes place each year during the olive harvest season in November or December. It is also an important industrial center for textiles and manufacturing; the manufacturing industry employs about half of Jemmal's active population. An industrial zone was established in 2005 on 7.5 hectares (.03 sq. miles), along the road that connects Jemmal to the town of Moknine. Taïeb Baccouche
Taïeb Baccouche (born 1 November 1944) is a Tunisian politician who has been Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union since 2016. Previously he served in the government of Tunisia as Ministry of Education (Tunisia), Minister of Education in 2011, in the wake of the Tunisian Revolution, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Tunisia), Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2015 to 2016. Life and career Born at Jemmal in 1944, Baccouche travelled to France in 1965 to study at the University of Paris, Sorbonne where he obtained a degree in Linguistics in 1966 and an aggregation in Arabic in 1968. After that, he returned to Tunis to teach at the University of Tunis. Baccouche was awarded a State Doctorate in Linguistics in 1980 from the University of Paris University of Paris, Sorbonne. Monastir Governorate ( ' ) is one of the twenty-four governorates of Tunisia. It is situated in north-eastern Tunisia. It covers an area of 1,019 km2 (393 mi2) and has a population of 548,828 (2014 census). The capital is Monastir. Tunisia is divided into 24 governorate, governorates (''wilayat'', sing. ''wilayah''). This term in Arabic can also be translated as province or federated state (though the latter does not apply, as Tunisia is a unitary state). Monastir, also called Mestir ( ar, المنستير ', from the Greek "hermit's cell, monastery"), is a city on the central coast of Tunisia, in the Sahel area, some south of Sousse and south of Tunis.
