Jeff Thomas (born July 2, 1958) is a Canadian curler from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. He currently coaches Team Nathan Young. Career Thomas is a very well-known coach on the island of Newfoundland and Labrador. He has been coaching since the mid-1980s and he has coached for many of the biggest stars in Newfoundland and Labrador, such as Brad Gushue and Nathan Young Nathan Young is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 science fiction comedy-drama ''Misfits'', portrayed by Robert Sheehan. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. Colin Thomas is a Canadian writer from Vancouver, British Columbia. He is known as a longtime theatre critic for ''The Georgia Straight'', an alt-weekly, serving 30 years until 2016. Marc Kennedy
Marc Kennedy (born February 5, 1982) is a Canadian curler, and Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic gold medallist from St. Albert, Alberta. In 2019, Kennedy was named the greatest Canadian male second in history in a TSN poll of broadcasters, reporters and top curlers. Career Kennedy was born in St. Albert, Alberta, the son of Don and Connie. He started curling at age six. He is a Canadian Winter Games champion and three-time provincial junior champion. He won his first provincial men's championship with Kevin Martin in 2007. 2020 World Men's Curling Championship
The 2020 World Men's Curling Championship (branded as the 2020 LGT World Men's Curling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was scheduled to be held from March 28 to April 5 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. On March 14, 2020, the World Curling Federation announced the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was set to be the first event to start gathering points towards the 2022 Winter Olympic Qualification. Upon cancellation, the qualifying process was left unclear. It was later announced that any country who were scheduled to compete in the event and did not qualify through the 2021 World Championships would take part in a final Olympic Qualifying Tournament in December 2021. Canadian Olympic Curling Trials
The Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, marketed from 2009 through 2017 as the Roar of the Rings, are a quadrennial tournament held by Curling Canada that determines the Canadian men's and women's representatives for curling at the Winter Olympics. The system of qualification for the Curling Trials varies for each event, and can be quite complicated. One main reason for an Olympic qualifying event apart from the national championships (The Brier and the Scotties) is that provincial residency rules do not apply to the Olympic team. Curling was added to the Olympic programme in 1998, and a Canadian Olympic Trials have been held the year prior since 1997. Brad Gushue
Bradley Raymond Gushue, ONL ( ; born June 16, 1980) is a Canadian curler from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Gushue, along with teammates Russ Howard, Mark Nichols, Jamie Korab and Mike Adam, represented Canada in curling at the 2006 Winter Olympics, where they won the gold medal by defeating Finland 10–4. He also represented Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where he won a bronze medal. In addition to the Olympics, Gushue won the 2017 World Men's Curling Championship with teammates Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant, and Geoff Walker.
