Jeep FJ
The Jeep FJ Fleetvan was a compact delivery van manufactured by Willys, Willys Motors and Kaiser-Jeep from 1961 to 1975. It was based on the Jeep DJ, DJ-3A Dispatcher, but equipped with the Willys Hurricane engine, F-134 Hurricane engine. Two models were available, the FJ-3 and the longer FJ-3A. It came standard with the familiar Borg-Warner T-90 three-speed manual transmission. A Borg-Warner automatic was offered as an option. Postal Service Right-hand-drive FJ-3s were made for the US Postal Service. Most of these had horizontal grille slats in contrast to the seven vertical slats found on standard models. The FJ-6 model (based on the Jeep CJ, CJ-6) was introduced in 1965 for postal use, which was ultimately replaced by the FJ-8 & FJ-9 introduced in 1975. Willys (pronounced , "Willis" ) was a brand name used by Willys–Overland Motors, an American automobile company, founded by John North Willys. Kaiser-Jeep
Kaiser Jeep was the result of the 1953 merger of Kaiser Motors, an independent passenger car maker based in Willow Run, Michigan, with the Toledo, Ohio-based Willys-Overland Company. Willys-Overland had been at one point before World War II the U.S.'s second-largest car-maker after Ford, but their success waned during the 1930s. Willys survived during the war by getting the primary contract to build the U.S. World War II jeeps for the American and Allied armed forces. From 1945, Willys focused almost exclusively on selling Jeep branded vehicles, both civilian / commercial, as well as government / military jeeps. The Jeep DJ (also known as the Dispatcher) is a two-wheel drive variant of the four-wheel drive CJ series. Production started in 1955 by Willys, which was renamed Kaiser Jeep in 1963. In 1970, American Motors Corporation (AMC) purchased Kaiser's money-losing Jeep operations and established AM General, a wholly owned subsidiary that built the DJ through 1984. Borg-Warner 35 Transmission
The Borg-Warner 35 transmission (BW-35) is an automatic transmission produced by the BorgWarner company. This article also applies to variations—the M-36 and M-37. When this article refers to "M-3x" it refers to all models. When model number specific it will use the exact model number. The "3" in the number refers to the specific series of transmission. The M-3x, 4x, 5x and 6x transmissions are all aluminum cased transmissions that are related to the M-35 (the first of the aluminum Borg-Warner automatics). In this case the rising series number is relative to transmission strength—a larger number will withstand more power than a smaller number.
