Jed MacKay
Jed MacKay is a Canadian children's TV producer/writer/composer. He began his career writing for TVOntario's long-running success ''Polka Dot Door'', for which he was honoured with a Masterworks Award by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television in 2010, and CBC's ''Homemade Television'', winner of the Children's Broadcast Institute prize for Best Children's Show. MacKay became a producer in 1985. MacKay also composed the original songs for the shows he wrote or created, as well as the themes for ''Join In!'', ''Polka Dot Shorts'', '' Telefrancais'' and '' Elliot Moose''. He has written or composed for many other series, and was the Creative Producer and Executive Story Editor for Halifax Film's ''Lunar Jim'' in 2007. MacKay was creative consultant for CBC's game-changing "Canada's Super Speller" (winner of the ACCT's 2010 Gemini Award for Best Children's or Youth Non-Fiction Series). Gemini Award
The Gemini Awards were awards given by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television between 1986–2011 to recognize the achievements of Canada's television industry. The Gemini Awards are analogous to the Emmy Awards given in the United States and the BAFTA Television Awards in the United Kingdom. First held in 1986 to replace the ACTRA Award, the ceremony celebrated Canadian television productions with awards in 87 categories, along with other special awards such as lifetime achievement awards. The Academy had previously presented the one-off Bijou Awards in 1981, inclusive of some television productions. In April 2012, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television announced that the Gemini Awards and the Genie Awards would be discontinued and replaced by a new award ceremony dedicated to all forms of Canadian media, including television, film, and digital media, dubbed the "Canadian Screen Awards". Lunar Jim
''Lunar Jim'' is a Canadian animated science-fiction stop-motion television series that aired from January 2, 2006 to April 24, 2012. The series centered around Lunar Jim, an astronaut on the blue moon L22. The series, produced by Halifax Film Company and Alliance Atlantis in association with CBC Television, Radio-Canada and BBC Kids, was based on an original concept created by Alexander Bar. Benny Zelkowicz was the director and he voiced Jim in the series. WildBrain Studios is the in-house television studio arm of Canadian entertainment company WildBrain based in Vancouver which was established in 2016 as DHX Studios. History In January 2016, DHX Media announced that they would be building a 60,000 square-foot studio in Vancouver that would focus on both animated and live-action productions.
