Jeanette (Spanish Singer)
Janette Anne Dimech (born 10 October 1951), known professionally as Jeanette, is a Spanish singer and songwriter. She rose to prominence as the lead singer of teenage folk-pop group Pic-Nic, which had a hit in 1968 with her song "Cállate, niña". Jeanette returned to music as a solo artist and experienced commercial success in 1971 with the hit single "Soy rebelde", which redefined her career as a romantic ballad artist and was a worldwide hit amongst Spanish-speaking countries and communities, eventually becoming a generational anthem. In 1976, Carlos Saura included Jeanette's 1974 song "Porque te vas" in his film ''Cría cuervos'', which propelled it to become a major hit and one of the most famous Spanish pop songs of all time. Willesden () is an area of northwest London, situated 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Charing Cross. It is historically a parish in the county of Middlesex that was incorporated as the Municipal Borough of Willesden in 1933, and has formed part of the London Borough of Brent in Greater London since 1965. Dollis Hill is also sometimes referred to as being part of Willesden. Corazón De Poeta
''Corazón de poeta'' (; Spanish for "Heart of a poet") is the fourth studio album by English-born Spanish singer Jeanette, released in June 1981 on RCA Victor. The album was almost entirely written and produced by composer Manuel Alejandro, who had written "Soy rebelde", Jeanette's 1971 breakthrough as a canción melódica singer. After releasing an LP record in France and an unsuccessful foray into disco in Germany, ''Corazón de poeta'' was Jeanette's return to the Spanish market, as well as to the soft, sentimental ballads she had been known for. ''Corazón de poeta'' intended to reinvent Jeanette's childlike image into a more mature one, reflected in its erotic tone and its promotional campaign. Three singles were released from the album: the title track, "Frente a frente" and "El muchacho de los ojos tristes", with the former two becoming hits and aiding Jeanette's resurgent popularity in the Spanish market. The Belgian Congo (french: Congo belge, ; nl, Belgisch-Congo) was a Belgian colony in Central Africa from 1908 until independence in 1960. The former colony adopted its present name, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in 1964. Colonial rule in the Congo began in the late 19th century.
