Jean Filiol
Jean Paul Robert Filiol (9 May 1909 – date of death unknown) was a French militant, who was active in ''La Cagoule'' before the Second World War. After the war, he fled to Spain, where he worked for the local office of L'Oréal. Filliol was one of the founding members of ''La Cagoule'', after being previously a member of the ''Camelots du Roi''. He was one of suspects in the killing of the Italian anti-fascists Carlo and Nello Rosselli in 1937, for which a French court convicted him to death ''in absentia'' in 1948. Filliol was interned in 1942, but released in 1944, on the orders of Joseph Darnand. Dordogne ( , or ; ; oc, Dordonha ) is a large rural department in Southwestern France, with its prefecture in Périgueux. Located in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region roughly half-way between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees, it is named after the river Dordogne, which runs through it. Carlo Alberto Rosselli (Rome, 16 November 1899Bagnoles-de-l'Orne, 9 June 1937) was an Italian political leader, journalist, historian, philosopher and anti-fascist activist, first in Italy and then abroad. He developed a theory of reformist, non- Marxist socialism inspired by the British Labour movement that he described as "liberal socialism". Sabatino Enrico 'Nello' Rosselli (Rome, 29 November 1900 – Bagnoles-de-l'Orne, 9 June 1937) was an Italian Socialist leader and historian. Biography Rosselli was born in Rome to a prominent Jewish family. His parents were Giuseppe Emanuele "Joe" Rosselli (1867 - 1911) and Amelia Pincherle (1870 - 1954), who was the paternal aunt to writer Alberto Moravia. Nello was the youngest of three sons, the others being Aldo Sabatino (1895 - 1916), died in World War I and Carlo Alberto (1899–1937). Nello was a member of the reformist Unitary Socialist Party of Filippo Turati, Giacomo Matteotti and Claudio Treves, which had split from the PSI. Joseph Darnand
Joseph Darnand (19 March 1897 – 10 October 1945) was a French collaborator with Nazi Germany during World War II. A decorated soldier in the French Army of World War I and early World War II, he went on to become the organizer and ''de facto'' leader of the ''Milice française'', or French Militia, the collaborationist Vichy government's paramilitary police force. Darnand also served as an officer in the Waffen-SS. He was tried and executed after the war for treason. Early years and war service Darnand was born at Coligny, Ain, Rhône-Alpes in France.
