Grammar
In linguistics, the grammar of a natural language is its set of structure, structural constraints on speakers' or writers' composition of clause (linguistics), clauses, phrases, and words. Lexicography is the study of lexicons, and is divided into two separate academic disciplines. Éditions Larousse is a French publishing house specialising in reference works such as dictionaries. It was founded by Pierre Larousse and its best-known work is the ''Petit Larousse''. It was acquired from private owners by Compagnie Européenne de Publication in 1984, then Havas in 1997. It was acquired by Vivendi Universal in 1998. Vivendi made losses in 2002 and sold Larousse to the Lagardère Group, thus satisfying public opinion by keeping Larousse in French hands, despite objections by smaller publishers about Lagardère's virtual monopoly on French publishing. It has been a subsidiary of Hachette Livre since 2004. It also offers the ''Larousse Gastronomique'' and a free, open-content encyclopedia. Henri Mitterand (7 August 1928 – 8 October 2021) was a French academic, author, critic, and editor. He was a specialist on the works of Émile Zola, one of the founders of sociological criticism in France. Biography Mitterand graduated from the École normale supérieure with a degree in literature in 1948 and became an associate professor at the school in 1951. He was Pensionary of the from 1952 to 1955 and earned a doctorate in literature in 1959. He was a professor at Paris 8 University Vincennes-Saint-Denis from 1968 to 1978, at Sorbonne Nouvelle University Paris 3 from 1978 to 1990, and at Columbia University from 1989 to 2004.
