Jean-Paul Laufenburger
Jean-Paul Laufenburger (19 November 1943 – 16 November 2014) was a French footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career Born in Mulhouse, Laufenburger started his football with the youth teams of the local football club Mulhouse, but he started his active career with Sochaux-Montbéliard in 1962. After just two years with Sochaux, he signed a semi-professional contract with Basel and stayed with them for ten seasons. Laufenburger joined Basel's first team for their 1964–65 season under the Czechoslovakian head coach Jiří Sobotka. The young Laufenburger was brought in as back-up goalkeeper to Marcel Kunz and the two of them shared the place between the posts during all this time, and by journeys to away games the two friends shared hotel rooms. 1966–67 FC Basel Season
The 1966–67 season was Fussball Club Basel 1893's 73rd season in their existence. It was their 21st consecutive season in the top flight of Swiss football after their promotion the season 1945–46. They now played their home games in the St. Jakob Stadium, in the south-eastern end of the city and no longer in their old stadium Landhof. Harry Thommen took over as club chairman at the AGM from Lucien Schmidlin who retired and became vice-chairman. Overview Pre-season During this season Helmut Benthaus was the club player-manager for the second consecutive season. There were only a few minor changes in the squad. Overview There were 14 teams contesting in the 1966–67 Nationalliga A and Basel finished the seasons as champions just one point clear of both FC Zürich in second position and FC Lugano who finished third. Basel won 16 of the 26 games, drawing eight, losing twice, and they scored 60 goals conceding just 20. FC Moutier finished in last position and were relegated. FC Winterthur and FC La Chaux-de-Fonds finished level on points and thus played a relegation play-out. La Chaux-de-Fonds won 3–1 and Winterthur were also relegated. Basel also won the Swiss Cup. Helmut Hauser
Helmut Hauser (born 7 March 1941) is a German former footballer. He played as forward. Hauser started his youth football with local club SV Schopfheim. He also played a few years in their senior team. In 1964 he transferred to Basel and played there for eight years, the first under trainer Georges Sobotka and seven under trainer Helmut Benthaus. He won the Swiss Championship four times and was Swiss Cup winner once. In the eight seasons in which Hauser played for Basel, he played a total of 287 games for the club scoring a total of 180 goals. 146 of these games were in the Nationalliga A, 27 games were in the domestic cup, 42 were in European competitions and 82 games were test games. 70 of the goals were in the domestic league, 17 were in the cup, 20 were in European competitions ( European Cup, Cup of the Alps and Inter-Cities Fairs Cup) and the other 73 were in the tests.
