Jean-François Ricard
Jean-François Ricard (born 14 July 1956) is a French magistrate, and since 25 June 2019 the first prosecutor of the National Terrorism Prosecution Office (; PNAT) a '' parquet'' for the prosecution of terrorism in France. Early life and education Ricard was born in Boulogne-Billancourt ( Hauts-de-Seine), France. Career Ricard began his career in December 1982 as a judge in Arras ( Pas-de-Calais). He then was a judge in Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis), beginning in December 1986, before joining the judiciary in Paris. Ricard worked as an investigating judge in charge of terrorism cases for 12 years. With Jean-Louis Bruguière, Ricard was in charge of the file of the 1996 Paris RER bombing on the Réseau Express Régional in Saint-Michel. Ricard left his role as an investigating judge in 2006. Ilich Ramírez Sánchez (; born 12 October 1949), also known as Carlos the Jackal ( es, link=no, Carlos el Chacal) or simply Carlos, is a Venezuelan convicted of terrorist crimes, and currently serving a life sentence in France for the 1975 murder of an informant for the French government and two French counterintelligence agents. Rambouillet Knife Attack
On 23 April 2021, a man stabbed a police employee to death at a police station in Rambouillet, France. Attack At around 2:20pm on 23 April 2021 a fatal stabbing occurred in Rambouillet, Yvelines, Île-de-France. An unarmed administrative assistant was twice stabbed from behind in the throat by the assailant. The knifeman was shot twice by police at the scene and died from his wounds. Attacker The attacker was named as Jamel Gorchene, a 36-year-old Tunisian man who arrived in France illegally in 2009 who was not known to security services. He lived illegally in France for ten years until he obtained residency papers in 2020 which were valid until December 2021. He had recently moved to Rambouillet. 2020 Nice Stabbing
On the morning of 29 October 2020, three people were killed in a stabbing attack at Notre-Dame de Nice, a Roman Catholic basilica in Nice, France. The alleged attacker, Tunisian man Brahim Aouissaoui, was shot by the police and taken into custody. Both French President Emmanuel Macron and the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, said it was a terrorist attack attributed to Islamic extremism. Murder Of Samuel Paty
The murder of Samuel Paty (), a French secondary school teacher, took place on 16 October 2020 in Éragny-sur-Oise, a suburb of Paris. Paty was killed and beheaded by an Islamist terrorist. The perpetrator, Abdoullakh Abouyedovich Anzorov, an 18-year-old Russian Muslim refugee, killed and beheaded Paty with a cleaver, and was shot and killed by the police minutes later. A social media campaign against Paty was linked to his subsequent murder. One of Paty's students had alleged that in a class on freedom of expression, he had shown his students ''Charlie Hebdo'''s 2012 cartoons depicting the Islamic prophet Muhammad, despite the fact that she was absent from the class that day.
