Jazz Lewis
Jazz M. Lewis (born February 26, 1989) is an American politician and Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates. Lewis represents Maryland's 24th district, and is currently serving as House Majority Whip. Early life and education Lewis was born in Silver Spring, Maryland. He graduated from Charles Herbert Flowers High School and later attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in 2011 and a Master of Public Policy degree in acquisition management and international development in 2014. Political career Lewis first entered politics as a campus organizer, organizing students in a protest against a proposed tuition increase. The Squad is a group of six Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives. It was initially composed of four women elected in the 2018 United States House of Representatives elections: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (aka AOC) of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. Ritchie John Torres (born March 12, 1988) is an American politician from New York. A member of the Democratic Party, Torres is the U.S. representative for New York's 15th congressional district. Maryland's 4th congressional district comprises portions of Prince George's County and Anne Arundel County. The seat is represented by Anthony Brown, a Democrat. The district includes most of the majority-black precincts on the Maryland side of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Following the 2020 redistricting cycle, it still remains concentrated in Prince George's County, but no longer reaches into Anne Arundel County; it takes over areas in Prince George's County formerly incorporated in District 5, including College Park, Greenbelt, and Beltsville, also taking an area of Montgomery County around Burtonsville.
