Jay Wasson
Jay Wasson (born October 24, 1956) is an American politician and businessman who served as a member of the Missouri Senate for the 20th district from 2011 to 2019. Previously, Wasson served four terms in the Missouri House of Representatives (2002–2010). Early life and education Born in nearby Springfield, Jay Wasson was raised in Nixa, Missouri. His ancestors settled in Nixa in 1867. After graduation from Nixa Public High School in 1974, Wasson attended Drury University. Career Outside of politics, Wasson works as a real estate developer. He is also a company officer for St. John's Health Systems, Inc. Missouri Legislature Wasson first entered statewide politics in 2002, winning the first of four consecutive terms to the Missouri House of Representatives. Dan Clemens
Dan J. Clemens (January 3, 1945 – July 22, 2019) was a Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Missouri State Senate. Biography He was born in Webster County, Missouri, and educated in the schools of Marshfield, where he was an active member of Future Farmers of America. He later went to the University of Missouri, where he was elected to the Missouri Senate, and obtained a master's degree in agriculture there. He was the owner and operator of a third-generation family farm where he raised row crops. He attended the First Baptist Church, and served on the Soil and Water District Commission, the Agriculture Advisory Commission, and a farmer representative on the James River Partnership. Missouri's 7th congressional district consists of Southwest Missouri. The district includes Springfield, the home of Missouri State University, and the popular tourist destination city of Branson. Located along the borders of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Northwest Arkansas, the district occupies part of the Bible Belt with a strong socially conservative trend. George W. Bush defeated John Kerry here 67% to 32% in the 2004 election. Republican John McCain defeated Democrat Barack Obama 63.1% to 35.3% in the 2008 election. Nixa High School is a public high school in Nixa, Missouri, United States. Nixa High School received the National Blue Ribbon in 2013 and 2022. Eric Wayne Burlison (born October 2, 1976) is an American politician who currently serves as the U.S. representative from Missouri's 7th congressional district since 2023. He previously served as the representative for District 133 ( Greene County) in the Missouri House of Representatives. Nixa, Missouri
Nixa is a city in Christian County, Missouri, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city's population was 23,257. It is a principal city, and the second largest city in the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The area was first settled by farmers who located their farms along the wooded streams near present-day Nixa. The area became a crossroads, as it was a half-day ride with a team of horses from Springfield. Teamsters found it a convenient stopover site when hauling freight between Springfield and Arkansas. The village became known as Faughts. An early resident, Nicholas A. Inman, was a blacksmith from Tennessee, who set up a shop in 1852. When a post office was opened, a town meeting was held to decide on a name for the new community. Because of his years of service to the community, the town was suggested to be named for him.
