Allan Jay
Allan Louis Neville Jay MBE (born 30 June 1931) is a British former five-time-Olympian foil and épée fencer, and world champion. Early life Jay was born in London, England, and is Jewish. His father died fighting in World War II in 1943. He attended Cheltenham College from 1944 to 1948. He spent much of his childhood in Australia. After 1950 he returned to Britain to study law at the University of Oxford, and later worked as a solicitor while serving as fencing official with the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime. Jay and his wife Carole have two children. Fencing career Jay competed internationally in 1950 for Australia. He was a five times British champion winning five titles at the British Fencing Championships, épée champion in 1952, 1959, 1960, and 1961, and foil champion in 1963. Martin Jay
Martin Evan Jay (born May 4, 1944) is an American intellectual historian whose research interests connected history with the critical theory of the Frankfurt School, social theory, cultural criticism, and historiography. He is currently the Sidney Hellman Ehrman Professor of History Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley. He was elected a Member of the American Philosophical Society in 2019. Career Jay received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Union College in 1965. In 1971, he completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in history at Harvard University under the tutelage of H. Stuart Hughes. His dissertation was later revised into the book ''The Dialectical Imagination,'' which covers the history of the Frankfurt School from 1923 to 1950. While he was conducting research for his dissertation, he established a correspondence and friendship with many Frankfurt School members. Vincent Jay
Vincent Jay (born 18 May 1985) is a former French biathlete and non-commissioned officer. During his career, he won two Olympic medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver - a gold in the sprint and a bronze medal in the pursuit. He was the first Frenchman to win an Olympic sprint Biathlon title. In the World Cup, he has fourteen podiums with two individual victories in Vancouver and two victories as part of relay teams. Tyler Ryan Jay (born April 19, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization. He played college baseball at the University of Illinois and was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft. Career Amateur career Jay attended Lemont High School in Lemont, Illinois. He played both baseball and football at Lemont. Jay committed to the University of Illinois to play college baseball for the Fighting Illini. As a freshman, he appeared in 18 games, going 1–3 with a 3.10 earned run average (ERA) and 20 strikeouts. Tony Jay (2 February 1933 – 13 August 2006) was a British actor. A former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, he was known for his voice work in radio, animation, film, and video games. Jay was particularly noted for his distinctive baritone voice, which often led to him being cast in villainous roles. Eugene Stephen Jay (born January 26, 1951) is an American bassist, best known for working with "Weird Al" Yankovic. Early life Jay was born Eugene Stephen Jay in Detroit, Michigan on January 26, 1951. He auditioned for "Weird Al" Yankovic in 1982 after answering an ad in the newspaper, and the two have worked together ever since. Peter Jay (born 7 February 1937) is an English economist, broadcaster and former diplomat. Personal life Peter Jay is the son of Douglas Jay, Baron Jay, and Peggy Jay, both of whom were Labour Party politicians.
