Javier Simán
Javier Ernesto Simán Dada (born 14 June 1964) is a Salvadoran businessman and politician. He is the current owner of the SIMÁN department store chain. As a member of the right-wing Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA), he was a pre-candidate for the 2019 presidential election, and he is currently a potential candidate for the 2024 presidential election. Biography Javier Ernesto Simán Dada was born in El Salvador on 14 June 1964. In the 2019 presidential election, he was a pre-candidate for the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA), but lost the party's nomination to Carlos Calleja. El Salvador (; , meaning " The Saviour"), officially the Republic of El Salvador ( es, República de El Salvador), is a country in Central America. Simán, of Palestinian origin, when he decided to open a small shop in the commercial area of the San Salvador downtown. Its first name was "JOSE J. Nationalist Republican Alliance
The Nationalist Republican Alliance ( es, Alianza Republicana Nacionalista, ARENA) is a conservative, right-wing political party of El Salvador. It was founded on 30 September 1981 by retired Salvadoran Army Major Roberto D'Aubuisson. It defines itself as a political institution constituted to defend the democratic, republican, and representative system of government, the social market economy system and nationalism. ARENA controlled the National Assembly of El Salvador until 1985, and its party leader Alfredo Cristiani was elected to the presidency in 1989. ARENA controlled the presidency from 1989 until 2009. 2019 Salvadoran Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in El Salvador on 3 February 2019, with voters electing a President and Vice President for a five-year term. With 90% of the votes counted, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal declared former San Salvador mayor Nayib Bukele of the Grand Alliance for National Unity the winner with over 53% of the total vote, avoiding the need for the second round, which had provisionally been scheduled for March. Upon his ascension to the presidency, Bukele became the first President to not be from one of the two major parties (ARENA or the FMLN) since José Napoleón Duarte left office in 1989. 2024 Salvadoran General Election
General elections will be held in El Salvador in February and March 2024. In the first round on 4 February 2024, Salvadorans will elect the president, vice president, and all 84 deputies of the Legislative Assembly. In the second round on 3 March 2024, they will elect all 20 deputies to the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) and all 262 mayors of the country's municipalities. It will be the first time that presidential and legislative elections occur concurrently since the 1994 general election. Juan Carlos Calleja Hakker (born 11 February 1976) is a Salvadoran businessman and politician. He is currently vice president of Grupo Calleja, owner of the largest supermarket chain ( Super Selectos) in El Salvador—and former candidate for President of El Salvador for the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) for the presidential election of 2019. Biography Calleja is the grandson of Daniel Calleja, a Spanish immigrant who entered the retail business in the 1950s and founder of the brand Super Selectos, and son of Francisco Calleja, also a Spaniard by birth and promoter of the expansion and consolidation at the end of the year.
