Jaswinder Singh Brar
Jaswinder Singh Brar was an Indian politician and was Cabinet minister of Punjab in Prakash Singh Badal ministry (1977–80). Jaswinder Singh Brar was a Punjabi politician who became a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly twice by winning an assembly election in 1972 and then in 1977 from Kotkapura Assembly Constituency on the ticket of Shiromani Akali Dal. In 1972 he became the Leader of opposition but due to differences with high command he resigned and was succeeded by Prakash Singh Badal. In 1977 when Shiromani Akali Dal formed the government in Punjab he became the Minister of Coopration and held the position until President's rule was declared in Punjab. He also remained the President of All India Sikh Students Federation The All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF), is a Sikh student organisation and political organisation in India. The All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF), is a Sikh student organisation and political organisation in India. AISSF was formed in 1943. as the youth wing of the Akali Dal, which is a Sikh political party in the Indian Punjab. Origin Before the federation came into being, Sikh youths were organized into local ''Bhujangi Sabhas'' in schools and colleges across the Punjab region that promoted Sikh values, heritage and social service. President's Rule
In India, President's rule is the suspension of state government and imposition of direct Union government rule in a state. Under Article 356 of the Constitution of India, if a state government is unable to function according to Constitutional provisions, the Union government can take direct control of the state machinery. Subsequently, executive authority is exercised through the centrally appointed governor, who has the authority to appoint other administrators to assist them. Faridkot is a city in the South-western part of state of Punjab, India. It serves as the headquarters for both, the Faridkot district. as well as the Faridkot Division. The division was established in 1995 at Faridkot which includes Faridkot, Bathinda and Mansa districts. Etymology The city is named in the honor of Baba Farid, a revered 13th century Sufi saint whose shrine is located in Pakpattan, Pakistan. The town of Faridkot was founded during this century as Mokalhar by Raja Mokalsi, the grandson of Rai Munj, a Bhatti Chief of Bhatnair, Rajasthan. According to a popular folklore, the Raja renamed Mokalhar to Faridkot after Baba Farid paid a visit to the town. It remained the capital during the reign of Mokalsi's son Jairsi and Wairsi.
